About Alberta Women Of Industry Committee (Awic)

The Alberta Women of Industry Committee (AWIC) was formed with the vision of coming together to open up new doors for all women and illuminating a pathway towards a distinguished professional narrative. AWIC was established in 2019 as a non-profit society by Jessica Arsenault, Meghan Thomson, Nichole Thomson, Stephanie Elliot and Alex Sams. The committee was formed with the vision goal to bring women from a variety of industries together to promote collaboration, celebrate leadership, and foster the continued professional achievements of its members. The idea to connect women across a spectrum of industries is essential to our mandate, as we all gain when we succeed. Originally called the Alberta Ladies Petroleum Classic and deriving from a previous Society, this golf tournament was held annually for 14 years. The intent was to support women in the petroleum industry while also teaming up with a charity to support a good cause, with the primary focus of supporting women. AWIC has continued ALPC's legacy while opening up the event to women in all industries in order to garner more support and facilitate an annual event where women can connect, network, and support each other. With the continued support from our members, volunteers, and sponsors, we know we can only get stronger together. Our partnership with each of our sponsors enhances our initiative through our common goals and beliefs and ensures our professional development and networking success.
