" Photography motivates me to be sociable. I'm an introverted-extrovert but I have genuine interest in peoples' stories so it is essential to represent my subjects in the most respectful and truthful way possible. The only way people will allow you to see that part of themselves is if you can open yourself up too. It's a true give and take and I want to leave a shoot feeling that a real balance was achieved. "
Christy Dean is a Commercial Photographer specializing in editorial portraits and music promotion. Initially learning photography in order to gather reference for use in fine art projects, Christy took up photography in earnest in 1994 at Emily Carr Institute and completed her technical education in the NAIT photographic technology program in 2001.
For 10 years, Christy worked as an assistant and photographer at Bluefish Studios in Edmonton alongside Darren Jacknisky.
Christy Dean Photography was established 2. 5 years ago and Christy now works in most photo related genres including Magazine, Advertising and Portraiture.
Currently Christy lives in Edmonton and is raising her daughter Vérité with husband and illustrator Kelly Mellings.
