Went in to change an account detail, teller said cant do it, have to speak to a FR. That guy tells me to go back my home branch. what if my home branch is located in Toronto? Did not care, said he would be happy. happy to close my accounts is I was not happy and send my credit products to collection. the branch manager is yet to return my call this morning.

Would give 0 stars if possible. I came here with a friend to discuss closing her accounts as they had changed her account from the Free Youth Account (unlimited transactions, no fees.) to a savings account (no transactions, lots of fees) without calling or sending her a letter. We didnt ask for any of the money back (though it was about $700 total, and yes my friend should have done a better job of reviewing her accounts lol. This whole situation could have been avoided if she had.) We waited in line for about 15-20 mins before we were helped. However, we just wanted to close the account and asked them to cover the last months fees to close it as it had overdrawn her account when they took out the fees but about $60.00. The teller, who was nice enough, told us she could only cover a certain amount of $100.00 (Which is untrue, I have other friends who've worked with CIBC who said this is a lie.) Unless, we keep the account and she can reimburse all the money. We told her to use this $100 against her $60.00 Overdraft and keep the rest. She called a manager over to "get approval" and he asked about the situation. When we explained that she was moving her account to ATB for a promotion where she would get a free account the manager they called over said they would not reimburse ANY money and had a literal Sh** eating grin as he said so. The teller booked us an appt with a Personal Banker and we went in the next morning to meet with him about this same issue. Though he did reimburse the whole amount, it was not what we had asked for. He set her up with a credit card (didnt even ask to pull credit, just did on his own accord.) Gave her an overdraft, and opened 3 more accounts for her. Again, ALL WITHOUT PERMISSION. This bank does NOT care about its customers, only cares about their own pay cheque and bonus. They will force any and all products instead of doing what is actually right for the client. Absolute WORST experience of my life because then we had to go through the hassle of closing everything this banker opened. I am a pretty reasonable person, and I didnt mind the long wait, nor the "limit" the teller described on fee reimbursements. I do not like being treated like I don't matter, which happened on almost all accounts. Do not go to this branch. Save yourself the headache and frustration.

Extremely slow and constantly laughing loud tellers with customers for quite a long time......makes you wait forever. I recommend to teach your employees some good and prompt customer service from USA banks. seriously, paying to bank every month you get 20-30 minutes of waiting in a queue. what joke! especially at the end of a working day.

Called to ask a simple question about depositing an older cheque and the lady that answered the phone was very rude and even hung up on me saying they don't condone scams... terrible customer service.

Wanted to open a bank account for temporary workers. But the Senior Investment guy refused to accept my passport and work permit as valid identification, so I couldn't open my account. Had to come back another time after I did some research on my own, and after I told him that it is ok to use those two documents as ID he tried to open my account. And as if that wasn't enough - he said he can't do that because Iam not an permanet resident. So I also had to teach him about the temporary worker account... Worst experience ever!

Average wait time: 15 to 30 mins. If you expected this to be a quick visit. You are in for a surprise. Plan extra 30 mins into your trip. Assuming the bank isn't busy.

If I could give negative stars I'd give plenty. This place sucks. Staff doesn't know anything. Branch manager lies to you and tells you even they don't have proper training. In order to get trained staff you have to have at least $50000 in credit with them. What a no good rip off place
