Commonwealth Of Dominica Association Of Western Canada Description

CDAWC is a non-profit organization whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of Dominicans in Western Canada and in Dominica by meeting their many diverse needs and aspirations. Our objectives are very wide in scope but will focus on key areas of poverty alleviation, improved health care, cultural and educational promotion both in Western Canada and in Dominica.
Some of the objectives of the Association include:
(i) To promote the values and interests of Dominicans residing in Western Canada
(ii) To unite the residents of Western Canada who are of Dominica or of Dominican parentage
(iii) To network with fellow Dominicans and a diverse range of other individuals in other island organizations, entertainment, press, diplomats etc
(iv) To preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Dominica in Western Canada
(v) To engage in, sponsor and promote musical, cultural, educational and sporting activities; which will promote and preserve our cultural heritage both in Western Canada and in Dominica
(vi) To contribute meaningfully to our local communities and relations in Dominica
(vii) To cooperate with and support other common interest communities on the promotion of our objectives.
CDAWC first major project is coordinating relief efforts for our communities affected by hurricane Maria.
