Crowsnest Cre8Tions Description

In November 2017, my best friend, partner and crazy hubby has become my partner with Crowsnest Cre8tions. He is also a creative. . . although he would rarely admit it. I think he has forgotten that he was in the book publishing industry and did the layout and design for a small Canadian publisher when he lived in Newfoundland. He will be helping me with designs, getting them organized, uploaded into Etsy and eventually on to our own website for you to download and enjoy. He will be helping me keep on track and grow this business. We hope Crowsnest Cre8tions will help you with your own creative projects and inspire you to keep cre8ting every day.

Crowsnest Cre8tions was inspired from my love of Highway 3 (Crowsnest Hwy). The Crowsnest Hwy runs from the Ocean in British Columbia where I grew up to Medicine Hat Alberta where I have called home for almost ten years. I love the ecological diversity of the river valleys, mountains, to the prairies. We spend much of our free time in the Mountains in the Crowsnest Pass. This is where I find my centre, creativity and re-charge when life gets into the way.

I have always enjoyed being creative - writing, mixed media, graphic & website design and photography. I think having an adventurous side guided me into a natural resource career. During seasonal work, I often travelled back to Vancouver, BC where I completed my commercial photography certificate. Finally able to obtain full time work, I was able to live as far north as Fort Nelson, BC and work in Liard River, NWT to Medicine Hat, Alberta. During that time, I completed my Applied Communications Degree.

My Applied Communication Degree gave me the opportunity to learn to develop websites, create commercial logos, business cards and other graphics. I became a part-time commercial stock photographer documenting Forestry, Oil & Gas and Wildland fire fighting fields. I wrote press releases and articles highlighting what community events that Forest Officers participated in. I also had the opportunity to facilitate team building and communication sessions for new fire fighters.

After becoming a mom three boys, I began Environmental consulting. I still continued to build websites and stock photography as time permitted. I was given the opportunity teach a course at Medicine Hat College’s Reclamation Program. This was an amazing opportunity and enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately life often throws monkey wrenches in the way and I had had health issues that led me to have brain surgery.

For the last five years, I have focussed on recovering from my brain injury and to participate fully in life again. To this day I am discovering what my new strengths and passions are. I am not able to take photos to the commercial photography that I once was able to, but I enjoy helping and teaching kids how to use their tablets to take photos and stop motion videos.

I believe if I can continue to grow and push myself you can too! I do not know where Crowsnest Cre8tions will take me but hope you will join me on this journey.
