It's still a good idea to spend as much time in your yard - so don't put off raking this year!

Since the season is changing, it's a good idea to get your furnace serviced! Before the cold sets in, get a specialist to make sure that everything is working and there are no leaks.

Things are getting a bit chilly - but it's actually the perfect weather for walking! So get out in your neighbourhood and enjoy this fall weather, and since you're walking anyway, register for our walk your block program! http://enwatch.ca/walk-your-block/

Do you have a garage? Use it! Your vehicle is way safer parked out of sight.

Are you headed back to school this week? Make sure you take extra caution when getting there. This season means an increase in traffic. If you're biking, make sure you use the bikes lanes or bike with the flow of traffic. If you're walking, be extra vigilant and wear bright clothing so you're more visible!

For car thieves, a car with an open window — even a crack — is an unlocked car. Never leave your windows open if you're not in the car.

Install a security system - even if you're in an apartment or condo! Many systems are small enough that they can be used in smaller spaces.

When walking through crowded areas, keep your purse zipped! If at all possible, keep bags in front of you as well.

Mailboxes are an easy target for thieves, consider installing a security mailbox which requires a key to retrieve mail. You can also get code operated boxes for packages to be delivered and left in!

You might feel a bit ridiculous, but ask for identification and call the company for authentication when someone shows up at your door claiming to be a repairman/contractor/utility worker etc. Better safe than scammed!

Never leave your car running! This is basically an invitation for thieves to come and steal your car.
