The Student Spaceflight Experiment is (soon to be) out of this world. Over the course of nine weeks, Grades 6 to 9 students at some schools will develop experiments, and one team will have their experiment sent into space for testing. We can't wait to see what they design!

We knew today would be awesome! Five-year-old Finley let us tag along for his first day of Kindergarten at Grovenor School. His energy and excitement for learning was contagious, and we hope everyone else in the District enjoyed their first day of classes as much as our new friend. Now let's keep the good times rolling. Share photos of your first day in the comments below.

As students head back to class, please continue to watch for playground zones during your commute. Drivers must slow down to 30 km/h between 7:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. every day where playground signs are posted. Learn more about this limit and why it's important at https://www.edmonton.ca/transpor…/traff ic_safety/why-30.aspx.

Back-to-school FUNdamental #3: Loud and proud, the whistle is always ready to celebrate good times, and this back-to-school item screams versatility. It’s perfect for accenting your I-can’t-wait-to-see-my-friends dance moves and also specializes in signalling the start of a three-legged race at recess. Although the whistle can be worn as an accessory with any outfit, it pairs especially well with a coach’s uniform. So are you ready, team? Let’s make some noise for back to school!
