Elk Point Cafe was established in 1967, who she bought from Joe Wong.

Jean Slywka ran a small cafe on main street Elk Point for years, when she first opened it up she did all the cooking, waitressing, running the till, cleaning the dishes by hand. Etc. She would have up to 40 breakfasts in the mornings, so i always remember as a young kid , all her patrons ordering there meals and getting there own coffee as my Mom cooked there meals, leaving there money on the counter by the till.
At dinner a lot of High School kids would come in for her Hamburgers and Fries, home made milk Shakes, her home made Pies and desserts.
Jean was always dressed up Like she was going out to a Ball and her Hair was always done up like in the Picture. Many times Jean always had a big smile for her customers and I think she touched a lot of people with her personality as she wasn't shy to speak her mind.
A lot of her employees remember Jean wasn't scard to give you some hard advice if she didn't like the way you where working. But we all Know we appreciated her advice as we got a little older and smarter.
I still wish I could tease her like I did in the old days as she used to get annoyed with her sons at times. ;)
