Wonderful afternoon doing the high tea at hotel Mac. Also did the tour and was nice to get a little history of the hotel itself and see some of the gold floor places. :) Would definitely recommend. Excellent, friendly staff. A great time.

User

What an amazing night - best patio party ever - Hotel Mac needs to do more outdoor events, with bonfires, bar service outside, blankets, great food - loved watching the Crash Ice last night - WELL DONE HOTEL MAC

User

We went for brunch today & everything from the service to the food was wonderful. Excellent variety & enjoyed the mimosas

User

We did the royal high yea and tour on Sunday and it was amazing great service, friendly staff and such a beautiful place! 😍 will definitely be coming back to stay or for high tea!

User

The Sunday Brunch was excellent, and the dining room beautiful! Yes it is expensive but it is worth every penny!

User

My mother surprised my husband and I by booking us a room here with the Romance Package on our wedding day! Everything was perfect, the room was spacious with a stunning view, the chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne were delicious, all the staff professional and friendly. We ordered room service and were pleased with everything we ordered and how quickly it arrived, we had breakfast in The Harvest Room and it was also amazing with big portions (my husband couldn't finish!), the valets were quick and very friendly. Highly recommend!

User

Loved the Hotel and its history. Was upgraded to the 8th floor suite and felt like a Queen for the stay. Will be traveling back to Edmonton for business again in another month and plan on staying there again. Hotel Staff superb going above and beyond!!

User

Loved our stay on Fri, Dec 29. It was a bit of a wait to check in but I wasn’t worried as it was 3 hrs before dinner reservations. We were given 2 complimentary drinks for the wait which was so nice. Rm 507 was very roomy, comfortable bed, lovely large towels, great shower, and even nice toiletries! Upon checkout, hubby mentioned about the dogs barking in the room across the hall and we were comped our movie. Staff was extremely polite. Staff in the lounge were also very friendly. Would love to stay here again!

User

It is a nice place to go just to just have some uninterrupted relaxing time. One of the few historic buildings that is still in Edmonton and it is beautiful. When my grandparents moved to Canada from Poland after world war 2...he helped with Reno’s and extension of the hotel McDonald. There are old pictures that are up in the hallways of this building. You have a feeling of going back in time...where people road horse and buggies. The people who work there are wonderful and the brunches are absolutely delicious with amazing service. We have stayed at fantasy land hotel....and it was run down...dirty and way over priced. This hotel was less than half the price we paid at fantasy land and would go back again. To park is the expensive part as it is down town.

User

I went for brunch just..could not be at the restaurant but at the lobby , very nice place to be and relaxing atmosphere . Back in time feeling with a friendly people. I just loved it

User

Great hotel, great people working here. The food is nice. Went out the other day after having a nap and room service had made up the bed again while I was out. That was a nice surprise!

User

Excellent customer service with incredibly friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable staff. The room was clean and welcoming. We had an amazing 5 course Italian meal at the Harvest room, with our server Adam, who was quick, conscientious and hospitable.

User

We had a company Christmas party at the hotel the food and atmosphere were amazing. Our room was small but very cozy and comfortable. Breakfast in the hotel resturant was ok. We have had better breakfasts at chain restaurants and were disappointed because we expected more based on the reputation of the hotel. There was no wow just meh.

User

We spent New Year’s Eve as a family and had a fantastic time! The rooms were great and beds very comfortable. We had an upgrade to the gold floor but the gold room with the afternoon tea and snacks was closed so that was a little disappointing. The pool area was actually quite dangerous. The pool deck was so slippery, I almost fell four times going to the hot tub. Was terrified for my toddler. The hot tub wasn’t working either which was very disappointing being that it’s New Years and a very popular time for the hotel. We ordered room service and the food was very sub par. There was hardly any sauce for the spaghetti and the brisket sandwich was very dry and flavourless. Not what I expected from a Fairmont hotel. Having said the negatives, the positives were the hotel was very nicely decorated and the staff were very accommodating. All in all we had a good time.

User

So my wife already reviewed our stay but I feel a bit different. She was told she was being given a deal and a room with a view to enjoy the view of the city. When I booked in we were given a room on the second floor. A little disappointing, as there was no view of the city, but the balcony walkway.

The bed was quite uncomfortable and I left the hotel with a sore back which I haven’t had from a bed in a few years. The sound travels through the walls a bit too easily. Other than that the staff were very helpful and professional. The brunch was very tasty but perhaps a bit overpriced at $130 with 2 drinks.

User

Definitely not up to "luxury hotel" standards. Public spaces are typical CP hotel (beautiful and full of history). But the furnishings are terrible and cheap, see the peeling bonded leather chairs in the lobby bar for a great example of this. Also on one of the mornings of my 4 night stay the hotel had NO HOT WATER! I don't mean lukewarm water, only ICE COLD water.

The only reason why this review gets 3 stars is because of the amazing staff at this property, they are the only reason I would return but I can promise it would only be for a drink, would never stay here again.

User

we arrived for check in around 3 and it took over 2 hours for us to get a room and we had our 2 year old and infant with us. we were supposed to get a king size bed but ended up with 2 doubles. the beds were comftorable but for the price i dont feel we got our money's worth. we feel let down by our experience.

User

Love the Fairmont in general and have never had a bad thing to say in a decade. We stay Fairmont on EVERY trip out family takes. Hate to say, but staying at the Calgary Paliser has been with mixed emotions. Our room is 26 celcius. Windows open all day, a maintenance. Current dying of heat along with my spouse and twins. This is really unacceptable for the Fairmont. Maybe it's the Calgary location, but my rating is 2 stars out of 10. Food is great, service is great, but when you are dying of heat, nothing else seems to matter. Please resolve the issue, ad I would love to recind the review.

User

It wasn’t up to fairmont standards, was run down. Paint chips, dirt and mold in the tile grout around the pool. The hot tub had blue something foam floating in it that wasn’t cleaned or skimmed clean. The doors in leading outside in the pool area were disgusting dirty and worn.

I know Fairmont is better than this. I used to work for Fairmont, I thought this hotel could be a lot better than what I saw.
