Jinzhe has been engaged in silent practice since starting the "Figure 一" painting. I finally got to see her today after no contact for 3 weeks. I'm spending the whole day with her (in silence) and my heart is full. Here's a sneak peek-

June 18th marked Dragon Boat Festival this year. A notable part of celebrating the festival is making and eating 粽子/Zongzi with family & friends. 粽子 is traditionally wrapped in leaves of reed, lotus or banana giving a special aroma and flavour to the sticky rice and fillings. Choices of fillings vary depending on regions. Northern regions in China prefer sweet or dessert-styled 粽子, with bean paste, dates and nuts as fillings. Southern China regions prefer savory 粽子, with a va...riety of fillings including marinated pork belly, dried sausage and salted duck eggs.
Celebrating Dragon Boat Festival & eating 粽子 commemorates the death of 屈原/Qu Yuan, a famous poet from the kingdom of Chu. Qu Yuan tried unsuccessfully to warn his king and countrymen against the expansionism of their Qin neighbours. When the Qin the Chu capital Yingdu in 278 BC, Qu Yuan's grief was so intense that he drowned himself in the Miluo river. According to legend, packets of rice were thrown into the river to prevent the fish from eating the poet's body.
