You don't have to leave Fort McMurray to GET AWAY! Believe me, a trip to Heritage Village is very affordable AND entertaining and will be like a vacation! Your family will be refreshed, knowledgable and even surprised at the events and characters who inhabited your community's past!! Amazing gift shop too. Highly recommended.

NOVEL ALERT: Haha :D Heritage Village is a hidden gem located in the downtown heart of Fort McMurray. I say hidden because... True Story, I had driven past this place, daily, for 2 years without ever knowing what it was or even popping in. I finally visited when presented with a maintenance job. I was instantly captivated and immediately fell in love. What was supposed to be a short 6 month work stint turned into 3 truly incredibly amazing and blessed years. Summarized, Heritage Village, to me, is a treasured collection of older buildings and artifacts ‘Locked In Time’ on a small plot of land as the rest of the world around it continues spinning faster and faster on a path of chaotic uncertainty toward oblivion. It represents a much simpler period in the recent past that shares tales of epic stories of life, adventure, drama, exploration, hardships and successes. The carpenters workshop was my absolute favourite place. It was another getaway. A building modified from its original purpose and use, it was messy with incomplete projects on the go, yet perfect. The quiet, nostalgic, ambiance and still atmosphere took over. I often worked late into the night long after patrons and staff had gone home. This was where magic happened. Raw materials entered. Inspiration was the catalyst. Design, creativity and passion, synergized. Masterpieces emerged and exited. It was good drugs and I was hooked. A special thanks goes to Roseann Davidson for entrusting me with many responsibilities and freedoms when it came to preforming my job. I formed friendships with many of the staff. They were excellent and a true pleasure to work with. They made my job easy. Since leaving the job, the people, this place, I’ve worked at new jobs, gained new experiences and have met new people. It has all been positive and good. Looking back though I can honestly say my time spent at Heritage Park (Heritage Village) will forever be remembered as one of my most fondest and dearest memories. So make sure you check it out, it’s a pretty cool place ;)

Most beautiful place & so much history of Fort Mcmurray there,& the quaintest gift shop ,it’s like a little hidden village there ,Love the place !!!!

Hertiage park was always my favorite spot to go as a child with my family. I still to this day love it.
