Forter SLC is a software suite dedicated to the implementation of functional safety. The software suite has been developed with one primary objective in mind, to simplify the implementation of the IEC 61511 / ISA S84 process safety standards while ensuring that the functional safety lifecycle defined in these standards is effortlessly maintained. To meet the unique needs of the various participants during the life of a safety system, Forter SLC has been divided into modules, with each module pertaining to a set of activities. The Analysis Phase, Realization Phase, and Operations Phase. The Realization Phase begins with the conceptual design stage where you can facilitate the PHA within the Tool and watch your data carry forward into a Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA). Define any safety loops as you need them from within your LOPA and watch as your Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) list is built effortlessly. Then design your SIFs using the built in SIF builder ensuring compliance to either IEC61511 or IEC61508, your choice. Once your SIFs have been designed see how your Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) has been automatically built while performing all of the other activities. Coming soon to the Forter SLC software suite will handle the realization and operations phases of the lifecycle. Including a Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Verification tool, a Management of Change (MOC) tool, and maintenance reminders.
