The Edmonton Area Art Revel was AWESOME! We had over 200 participants. We did the Alberta Arts Challenge (new crests this year!) THE SUPER IN ME! A big thank-you to all the Leaders who brought their girls out to the event. And a big thank you to our Area Commissioner, Heather Monahan for spending the day singing and dancing with us.
You can find a copy of the presentation deck Marion and I used at this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/415162271 886301/?ref=bookmarks Please... feel free to use it as one of your resources.
Again, thank you for making this years event another success!

Welcome back to another year of Guiding!
Hope you all had a great and exciting summer with lots of new memories to share!
I thought I would start this Guiding season off by talking about one of our greatest (in my mind) Guiding traditions “CAMPFIRE”.
... Gathering for a campfire at the end of your meeting or at camp can be life changing. The comradery, the fun, the laughs, the tears, the peace…..the everlasting memories, there is nothing quite like it. I have experienced many amazing campfires over my 30 years in Guiding and I want to ensure the girls today also have those experiences.
So, my questions to you is “What are your plans to introduce CAMPFIRES to your Units this year?”
Here are some ways I can help you …….
1. Each month, I try to provide a campfire program with components for all branches to use. My programs are usually based on a theme. You can find past programs on my “Guiding with Guider Dusk website” http://dnowicki123.tripod.com/ OR on my “Guiding with Guider Dusk Resources Facebook Page” https://www.facebook.com/groups/415162271 886301/ . Come back and visit these sites throughout the year for great ideas.
2. If you are Guiding in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, I am available to come out to your units and provide the following training: a. Songs and Singing Games for Sparks (1 or 1.5 hour sessions) b. Songs and Singing Games for Brownies (1 .5 or 2 hours sessions) c. Songs and Singing Games for Guides (2 hour session) d. Songs and Singing Games for Pathfinders / Rangers (2 hour session) e. Campfire Planning for Guides, Pathfinders or Rangers (2 hour session)
To book a session, please send me an email dawn.nowicki@telus.net or call me at 780-473-5670.
The Edmonton Area Music Revels have been filled to capacity over the last couple years limiting the number of girls that can participate. So, last year we were asked to put on a couple “District Art Revels” so everyone had an opportunity to experience song, dance and drama. If this is an event you would like to hold in your District, please contact me and I will work with Tanya Watts, Denise Kerr and Marion Rex (the dream team) to make this happen for your girls.
Can’t remember the tune to a song, let me know. I have no problem sitting in front of my computer to make a quick learning clip and posting it. I am here to help you, so don’t hesitate to contact me.
So now there is no excuse not to include campfires in your programs. You know where to look for help, I’m an email / phone call away!
“Go make a difference, you can make a difference. Go make a difference in the world. Go make a difference, you can make a difference. Go make a difference in the world.”
All the best Guider Dusk (Dawn)
