We're getting ready for a day of creativity, heritage, learning, and community tomorrow with our Artist talks by Zimra Beiner and Martina Lantin at 1pm & our Black & White Gala!
These events wouldn't be possible without the huge amount of work that goes into them by all of our staff. This is just a small part of the team who have been working hard these past few months!

The BMO Artist Lodge is officially open! We had a wonderful grand opening this afternoon with members from the community, BMO, and Medalta artists who came together to celebrate the completion of this exciting project!

Say, today seems like a good day to give ya some prohibition facts. Do you know any other good ones?
Happy legalization day!

WANT THESE CUTE WHISKEY JUGS!? Be the first to get this question right and they're yours!
*Edit: Evelyn Kuhl Dieterle got it right with 250,000 jugs!
Prohibition on alcohol ended in 1924, and just 3 years later, we were turning out these babies like crazy šŸ» we thought this was fitting knowledge for tomorrow's pot legalization!

Very pleasant and dedicated staff...

My wife and I had just arrived in Medicine Hat (MH) on Saturday and immediately went to the visitors' centre for local current info. We asked about and were informed that the Medalta museum had just reverted to winter hours last weekend and that the museum would be closed on Sunday's for tours. We informed them we had paid tickets for the Sunday tour and they wished us good luck.

Sunday afternoon we arrived at Medalta museum about 15 minutes before the scheduled tour and found the parking lot empty (uh oh...). At the same time a young lady came out of the museum side door, and we asked her if this was the place for the tour. She coyly suggested that the museum was closed but asked if we had tickets for a tour. "Yes we do" I said, and she said we could return in a few minutes for the tour.

We found out that this very delightful, dedicated and pleasant employee had shown up to honour our tour tickets (purchased through Viatour by mistake) even though the museum was in fact closed, She gave us a personal, thorough and very informative tour throughout the museum and was patient with our questions and never gave us the feeling we were being rushed.

The museum itself was incredible but we left feeling that the staff here make it all come alive. Maggie, you were a real treat to meet and we will remember this tour for a long time to come

This museum is amazing. From the enormous collection in the collector's gallery, to the actual old factory floor & kilns, to the modern displays showcasing the product through the years, it is so well done. My kids were enthralled by the cartoon in the blasting shack (which shakes from the blast) and the video of the old factory at work. We were not there on a production day, but that area is set up nicely for observation. We secretly wished for a hands-on pottery area, but can understand the materials, staffing and potential mess make that not practical. I'm hard to please when it comes to museum interpretation, but this was top notch.

This is a great place to visit. Lots of history to be had. Also, a wonderful place to have photos done whether it be family, grad, engagement or wedding! Also, their market at Medalta nights are great. You can shop local vendors and also have some amazing food as well. Must see when in the Hat!

User

Such a cool place we will always continue to visit!

User

Such a beautiful, exciting place to learn about history and see contemporary art in action!

User

Nice to see a place like this in the city that is a part of history. My daughter loved going with her class on a field trip to see it. Also such a beautiful place to have weddings/gatherings.

User

Medalta is a really wonderful place!!!ļæ½

User

Medalta is a magical place located in the historic clay district. For me personally, itā€™s where rich Canadian history and innovative approaches to ceramics meet.

The beautiful relics of a fallen industry are preserved and utilized as valuable lessons to build a sustainable studio practice.

User

Love this place for so many reasons. The history, great childrenā€™s programs, the market, and I got married here! We love to visit.

User

Interesting, very kid and family friendly and well worth the stop...if you like history, pottery or art this is a must see place!

User

I love everything about Medalta! I love the history and the sense of community. There are always activities going on for people of all ages.

User

I enjoy museums that are well done, and this one is. Lots of old machinery, displays and videos on how it all worked. Very good restoration

User

Great.

We went as a class to Medalta for Community Classroom for free.

The old, ancient machines were activated in our wake.

People say Medalta is haunted, but that whole week we haunted Medalta.

At the end, we learnt so pretty cool stuff.

Totally recommend, especially if from school.

User

Great history! And is part of a great festival Tongue on the Post!

User

Every event Iā€™ve been to has been an amazing experience whether public or private. Iā€™m always excited when an event is announcedļæ½

User

Comprehensive museum of the pottery industry of the area. I'm not particularly into pottery, but I found it very educating and fun.

User

User

A must visit at least once but you are going to want to visit time and time again.
