A HUGE shout out to Jeremy Cummins and his team of 50 volunteers and 200 baseball players. ⚾ So many people showed up for a beautiful weekend of supporting the mental health in our community.
... Over 10,000 raised for Momentum! 💜
Words are just never enough when we see this many people gather to share their stories and advocate for those who are struggling.
Events like these remind our Team at Momentum how incredibly proud we are of Edmonton and that this organization is making a difference daily, in the lives of people who walk through our door.

Great Read!
“We can improve things a bit — for instance, by practicing healthy habits and living our lives in a way that fosters growth — but we can’t game timing. Timing is the one thing that we often forget to surrender to.”

Jeremy! YegTalks! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts at Momentum Walk-In Counselling for thinking of us. 🙌🏼
We are so incredibly honoured to be the recipient of the funds raised ... from your slo-pitch tournament.
It’s people like you that allow us to do what we do. So many people need help when there is a financial barrier. Way to break down the barriers and work on ending a stigma.

“I am excited to be part of an event that helps open up a dialogue about death and dying. These can be difficult conversations to have, but the more we demystify grief and loss, the better we be at coping when it happens. At the same time, acknowledging death helps us live life more fully!”

“A powerful message: stories matter. We need to share our stories of living with mental health challenges and disabilities so that people understand the complexity, the dignity and courage, the shared obstacles and barriers, the real force of our community, the mental health community.”

I highly recommend this agency to everyone who is fighting anxiety, depression, BPD, etc. The group sessions are amazing and extremely informative. The two women that run the Anxiety & Depression Group, and the Emotion Regulation Group are great at teaching DBT skills, and teach it in a real world way. They are both extremely friendly and hilarious too! You won't be disappointed with attending these groups!!!

I decided to like the Momentum Facebook page when they were chosen as the recipients for the funds raised by the #yegsemicolon tattoo fundraiser. I started getting notifications about upcoming events and was surprised to see that they offered all sorts of support groups I had never heard of. I have had a previous bad experience at another place and wasn't really interested in participating in more groups but I was still impressed that they offered them because I know that others benefit from them.

A few weeks ago I saw that they would be offering an 8 week drop in PTSD workshop. This is the first time EVER that I have seen anything directly targeted towards those suffering from PTSD. I had a friend interested and willing to come with me so that helped a lot with my anxiety about going and the topic was relevant to her too. I was nervous at first but I expected that. What I didn't expect was that I quickly became comfortable being able to share with the other group members and facilitators. It didn't involve sharing personal details but even just participating in the conversation would normally have been very difficult for me. In other groups I've been to that have been open to a variety of mental health patients, although I didn't feel outwardly judged, I didn't always feel like people understood PTSD. I think it's even harder to relate to than depression and anxiety. With this PTSD workshop offered by Momentum, I instantly felt like everyone there truly got it. When we were brainstorming things we were each contributing things that another person was just about to say. Or contributing things that another person maybe wouldn't have considered but once mentioned it hit home for them too. I don't know that I've ever been a part of a group with that same level of common understanding without knowing anything personal about each other.

I've been to the first 2 sessions now and plan to continue attending. I know there's a couple weeks that I can't make it to but aside from that I plan to be there and to recommend the workshop to others that I know would benefit from it. I find it really helpful to know there is somewhere I can go on a weekly basis that will make me feel less isolated. I understand the plan is for 8 weeks but I so hope that it is continued and expanded to include a closed PTSD support group. Momentum is filling the gap with supports I have never heard being offered anywhere else and I'm so grateful that they are there when so badly needed.

Thank you for all you do!

Every city needs a place like this to go when you are in crisis and need solution-based counselling. Some of the group sessions were really helpful, and obviously there is a huge need in Edmonton for these services because their meeting room was bursting at its seams with people showing up needing help in a group setting. I just wish I knew that they only really offer 3 counselling sessions only before forwarding you onto different agencies and supports as their mandate. This was frustrating because it felt like we were just getting somewhere and then I was supposed to have the solutions I needed. That does not work for a deep depression. In saying that, it was a life saver, and a reason to get dressed and out of the house in my day, and I found some peace and understanding from all the professionals there and am grateful for the help I did receive.
