And of course, we must not forget to thank our two Design Judges who came from their warm homes to come out and help in the freezing cold! There were 35 designs that qualified for judging and they had the task of organizing by age and then awarding them at a rushed pace!

Governance. We like it. It feels comforting... What does it mean to you? Here's what we found from a Quickbooks INTUIT Site on the Benefits of a Governance Committee!
"A functional governance committee provides added assurance that a nonprofit is working effectively toward furthering its cause. Because nonprofits are often seen as moral pillars of a community or a society, having a governance committee helps assure members and donors that their money is being used reasonabl...y for the intended purpose. A governance committee also helps prevent stagnation on a board of directors by ensuring that there is regular change in the ranks of the board. Governance committees devise ongoing systems for educating, evaluating, and promoting board members, creating an environment in which board members must continually display active dedication to the company’s cause. The committee can also be tasked with evaluating the efficacy of individual policies and creating new recruitment materials. In any nonprofit, a governance committee’s most basic duty is to ensure that the organization is fulfilling its fullest potential within its field. On these very two frosty days, up to five OAC volunteers including 3 die hard directors) manned the Design a Jersey and Mascot Contest Event! We wanted to remind folks who love sports the arts are important to them! For, without a jersey, team colours, logos and mascots, there would be NO way to cheer for your favourite team, MVP or goalie!
Children as young as 5 participated and as seasoned as 12 participated!

We made our Awards Presentation on the Rogers Hometown Stage at 3:00 to the 4 Winners of 1st Place winning a $100 Gift Card to Michael'sArt & Craft Supplies, 4 Winners of 2nd Place winning a $50 Gift Card to Michael's Art & Craft Supplies, 4 Winners of 3rd Place, winning a signed Hockey Puck from NHL Royalty!

We passed out a whole lot of copies of our Design a Jersey and Mascot Templates today! All eligible kids MUST deliver their finished designs to the OAC booth on SUNDAY BY 3:00! All winners announced on stage at 3:30!!!

It's okotoks, everything here is great, and all I do is make violins and walk the dog in the shadow of the mountains.
