Wonderful ordering service...horrendous delivery. Working with Jim to order our new shower was excellent, some of the best service I have ever received. When it arrived early, that was great, except they forget to call ahead as they promised they would. My wife told me it was "damaged", it was a large understatement. A full 42" shower (glass door, glass walls, base, fiberglass walls) was delivered on one small pallette. All three boxes were damaged and split open, with the box for the shower walls completely caved in by the weight of the glass shower door and glass walls above it. The styrofoam inside was split, cracked and shifted. The plastic "sleeve" on the glass door had slidden down about 2 feet, leaving it with no protection. I was shocked to hear that it arrived like this from the manufacturer to Home Hardware, and they still sent it to us. Our first and last order from Home Hardware as in my 15 years of ordering delivered stuff from the major box stores, nothing comes close to this.

Okotoks Home hardware has changed to worse. for many year we have been shopping there, staff were friendly. but our recent experience has suggested it has turned into the worst place to get your building supplies. they are angry and extremely rude. one of the yard manager is swearing, cursing customer and try to give you the twisted lumber. When we tried to pick our own, he took all of the lumber off our truck. this is a horrible way to treat customers. as a business, you can not sell twisted lumber to customer. they don't understand what does customer satisfaction means. I have asked the store own/manager to call us, and we have never received the call. I couldn't believe this is happening. the price for all the lumber is higher than Home Depot and Lowes.

I had a terrible experience last Saturday at this locally owned and operated store. We went to buy 5 pieces landscaping lumber and a concrete tube at this place. We did not even think going to somewhere else because we have been shopping this store for lumber for last 20 years due to the reason that they have very knowledgeable lumber desk employees. Once we went to the yard, we are greeted by a very friendly staff and he took me to the lumber stack. I told him that I need to choose some straight ones and he said no problem and also pointed at one stack of lumbers by saying that 'that why we have two stacks here, one good and one crooked pile, just leave the twisted one on the right side pile'. He went on and picked two for me and also flagged the lumber once he put the first two on the truck. He also suggested that I put the truck gate up for better secure of the lumbers. I told him good idea and listened to his advice. This employee then said that he will leave me to chose the lumbers and went to get the concrete tubing that I also purchased.

As I was looking for the last piece, another employee came over and told me that you are going through the whole pile and I have to have you fix the whole pile. I thought that why you came here to threaten me and wouldn't let chose the lumbers as I clearly told the first employee that I was going to pick through ? So I kept picking. Then he yelled at me (I mean he was really yelling) 'I don't want sell you the lumbers and you get out!'. I asked him why you are so rude and threatening customers. I clearly told you guys that I am going to pick through and the first employee was perfectly fine with that and eve helped me chosing. He kept yelling and swearing at me and took the 4 pieces already on my truck right off. I was shocked and stunned by his craziness so I left and went to the lumber desk. As I drove away I still could hear him 'fk.....fk....fk....!' Behinds me. When I was talking to the desk people he showed up there a little later and acted entirely like a different person-polite, calm and gentleman like, started to tell a different story already. When we demanded to talk to the store manager he said he is the manager, really???!!! What a shock! He must be somehow related to somebody there or the person with the right mind would not chose him to be the yard manager.
The desk people offered to put the lumber and the tube back but I was upset and got the refund instead. I went to the Home Depot bought whole thing for $10 less. Home hardware charges the 8'x12" tube $19.99 and Home Depot charges the same thing for $13.64. Hardware charges the lumber $8 a piece while depot only charges about $7. Very friendly staff at the Depot and kept asking me to do the survey for the store experience.
Over the weekend , I talked about my encounters with my friends and neighbors and was surprised to find out i was the only one still going to the Home hardware consistently, pretty much. They also advised me that I can get product information on the internet just about anything, not worth paying extras for some advises. Well, so much for the locally owned and operated, many times there before, last time ever.
I really encourage the store owner can review the video in the yard to see how the 2nd employee treated a long time customer.

One of my favourite stores! Lots of good quality hardware, lumber and other building products. Often have brought my wife for some Christmas shopping! Courteous, knowledgeable staff......!!

This is the worst furniture store I've ever been to.

Don't bother going to Home Depot. Come to this place, the service is much better: they actually know what you are asking for. If they have it, they know where it is. If they don't, they know it and tell you so.

Cluttered but its not a bad place to shop

As a soap maker, this is the only place that I can get lye crystals now. I make the trek every couple of years from Calgary to get a container for my next batches. It's easy to find - Google maps takes you to the contractor entrance though so just go to the other side to get the main entrance. The staff is always friendly and helps me find what I need. The stock is really interesting and diverse and every time I walk through the store, I wish I had allotted more time to poke through and look around as there are some really neat items for sale. Just check the times before you go - they are only open to 8pm on weekdays.
