Regional Ems Foundation Description

The Regional EMS Foundation has been involved with raising funds to place AEDs (automated external defibrillators) in public areas across Northern Alberta since it's inception in 2000. With help from the Waldron family, who lost their 19 year old son due to cardiac arrest, the Regional EMS Foundation was born as a means to raise funds to support the placement of these life saving devices. Since then, the Regional EMS Foundation has supported medical co-response groups, volunteer fire departments, the EMS Cadets, High School First Responder Program, Candy Cane Check Stop, Safety City Kiosk, Medi Magnet, along with many other awareness and education initiatives.

The Star of LIFE Bursary is also operated through the Regional EMS Foundation. This bursary is disbursed in July of each year, and has helped many people start their career in Emergency Response.

Most recently, the Regional EMS Foundation has taken on a large fundraising project called the Human Patient Simulation Training Unit, which is essentially an ambulance body on the back of a large truck chassis. This mobile unit will travel across the North Zone, providing real life like training and education to our EMS practitioners, and their allied agencies. This training unit allows practitioners of small town or rural areas to stay in their community and still receive the high quality training that practitioners receive in larger centers.
This project is complete and education of emergency providers is taking place across our region.

Our Mission: Partnering with front line first response organizations to provide exemplary care to our families.
