Servus Credit Union

Walk in at this branch, my branch to deposit $4500 and the teller asked me if I sold my car or something, a way to ask me to justify the origin of funds. I just say no. She then turn on to say it is above her limit and she went and talk to her manager. A minute later she came back telling me she has to ask me where the money come from. I told her, because the amount was below the legal limit of $5000, There was no obligation for me to e explaining where I got 4500. She say they can ask for any amount. I said ok...what does your procedure say about the conditions that trigger the question. She replied that she won't disclose her procedure. I said there is a federal limit($5000) where the bank has to start asking questions and that as a business operating in Canada they should obey the law
.....forgetting it is a credit union and am a member....tomorrow I'll call and ask about the procedure

They are always friendly, know what they are doing and will be professional about mistakes. This is my main branch for a reason
