I love the meadows ! I live five minutes away and I'm there every other day , my kids enjoy it also ! I love the way the pool is set up , the staff is very friendly and I like that they have a lot of staff walking around to make sure everything is running smoothly , I haven't been up to the gym part of the meadows but for what I can see it looks good . My only complaint would be parking , it's hard to get four kids in and out of the parking lot quickly.

I use this facility semi regularly, mostly in the mornings. I like how large the place is and how there are multiple squat racks and free weights areas to use. However the times that I have gone in the afternoons I have noticed an overwhelming stench of body odor. I can't say it's the best air to be breathing in when I'm trying to run on the track. The only recommendation I would give is to better enforce the rules on the track. But that's not a big deal.

I like it for a few reasons..easy access, comparatively newer than other rec centres, clean, child minding included in membership and various lessons and classes are offered here. Things that really needs to be looked at are first the scanning line up and secondly pool. The staff at front desk could be more friendly not that i care but it can be annoying sometimes. Second big thing is the pool.. for majority of the time it is closed for repairs or lanes are closed for lessons.

Excellent facility! Plenty of rewarding activities for your monthly fees

Very pissed at the meadows Rec Center right now I go all the time for programs and to work out and my boyfriend is there almost every night when a shinny game is going on and last night he came home with welts on his arm and leg because a group of young adults decided they were gonna slash ppl with sticks and stuff yet no body really wanted to do it back or start a fight because they don't want to lose there shit pass YET someone from the Rec Center is suppose to be watching so these things don't happen but that person was to busy on there cell phone to care

That shit isn't even ok in the NHL is sure isn't ok at a public rink we're people come to have a fun safe game of hockey

There are quite a few people who use the gym/ workout areas, who don't have a clue what gym etiquette is, and unfortunately most staff are too busy visiting to attend to them. The equipment is constantly being damaged by steroid users who are too cheap, to pay to lift at a proper gym.

The 'Fitness Professionals' that work in the fitness centre seem to be lacking accountability. Posted rules and general courtesy are ignored by patrons daily, yet never enforced by staff. People bring backpacks, gym bags, coats etc with them around the gym, cluttering floor space. Weights are slammed and dropped constantly and numerous patrons fail to wipe down equipment. The staff let this slide, always. I have yet to see a single staff member enforce anything. Period. I also see staff members congregate in groups around the counter and chat for 10 - 15 minutes at a time, when every single wipe station is empty, and continue to remain empty for the entire duration of my visit. I came back from a class to find my locker (the "secure" ones facing the counter) unlocked and wide open with the mechanism and numbers jammed. I know it was locked when I went to the class, as I make a habit of turning and pulling the wheel to make sure it is secure. I figured one of the staff opened my locker mistakenly, while opening one for a patron. Luckily, my wallet and phone weren't missing, but when I brought the issue up with one of the staff, she seemed clueless and didn't care. This incident happened at the Terwillegar location. I really enjoy the Terwillegar and Meadow locations and amenities offered but all of the above mentioned issues seem to be ongoing and unresolved. I might consider switching to a private gym.

I really think there should be staff in the kids play place, or at least make more check ins. Getting pretty tired of 10 year old bowling my 1 yr old over in the toddler zone when the parents are NEVER to be found. Another thing my 1 yr old shouldn’t cost $3 to get in when we already purchased an adult day pass along with a pass for my 4yr old.

I have been to the pool before with my 2 year old and we've had a great time. Today my husband and I decided to bring my 2 year old and 7 month old swimming. I checked out your website before we left to make sure there were no closures or anything. After spending almost $30 to get in, we get in the pool and find out half of it is closed for lessons. We never would have come if we had known this. $30 is a lot of money for us and my 2 year old couldn't do anything that she's used to doing at this pool. She was super frustrated. The whole reason we wanted to come to this pool with my 7 month old is for the little spray pad. Again, we weren't aloud to go there because of lessons. We were very disappointed in our experience today and probably won't be back unless the website gets updated so we know when there's closures.

I come to Meadows for the spin classes and sometimes to use the track. It is a busy gym and I agree with some reviews that there needs to be more monitoring by the staff. My 13 year old daughter is always asked for her fitness card (to prove she's had her training to use the equipment). This is fine but I see people with their young kids on the track, the kids have bare feet or sandals which isn't allowed. You also find people blocking the track talking or going the wrong way, never addressed. The spin equipment often has the brakes left on, could the staff not check and put them down after every class/regular check? Bikes which have maintenance issues are moved to the front. I've tried to report issues (in several rec centres and know the instructors do too), but there's not a lot of action. A tag would be better so you can explain the issue and tag the bike as out of order with a date. The front desk team are awesome, friendly and efficient. The pool is great. The facility is new and the equipment in excellent condition. There is a problem with ventilation or something as this is the worst smelling gym I have been to, the body odour smell is sometimes overwhelming. I know that's not necessarily Meadows' fault as people should get washed but it is an issue as outlined by other reviews. I highly recommend the spin classes, instructors are awesome. Some people do tend to chat through some of the classes which is rude and disrespectful to the instructor (there are plenty of bikes outside the class if you want to chat!)

Parking is great and it's awesome to see all the kids playing hockey there. I love the ice rink outside in winter and it's nice for roller blades through summer.

User

While most of the staff are nice and helpful I’ve had so many instructor no show for classes including tonight (drove in from Leduc, thanks lady..) however did get a refund. Also my car was hit in the parking lot on my last visit. It’s insanely crowded in the gym to the point of discomfort and distraction. Good luck in the weight rooms and getting on a machine. Investing in a private gym membership was the best decision I made. Won’t be back.

User

I couldn't get a membership because I didn't have a void cheque on me or a direct deposit slip as my bank is in Manitoba meanwhile my writing out my account, transit and institute number is fine with every where else I go to and my employer....so much for that....

City of Edmonton Meadows Rec Centres Discouraging kids of 10-15 yrs to be Physically Active :

1. Millions of our hard earned tax dollars are taken from us by CITY OF EDMONTON to maintain existing & build New Recreation Centres and now these Rec centres are discouraging our kids of 10-15 years old by not letting even use the running tracks and no-space provided for Warm-up & Cool-down. They are asked to LEAVE.

2. Employees without Experience in physical training department are hired who suggest dangerous ways to training. (Just yesterday Paul on duty told me that my 10 years old kid can do warmup or stretching close to the edge of the path of fast runners, but he cannot have him in open & free area. So we left). This is clearly dangerous and Not safe.

3. Kids are listening to these discouraging conversations from Rec Centre employees which discourages them to practice Indoor Sports.

The real purpose of these Rec Centres are to get kids engaged in physical activities which is not happening in real.

I hope authorities governing these Rec-Centres will listen and help our kids to become more active in sports and not discourage them.

Worst place ever !! Never please go somewhere else

Will never go back, my son was harassed by the lifeguards every 5 minutes even though he passed the lane test. I was kicked out of the deep end because I am too short apparently to be in there holding my youngest son. Also it is not at all baby friendly in the change rooms. Very disappointed in the overall experience and size of the pool. I will continue to go to millennium where me and my kids have always enjoyed ourselves and never been harassed by the lifeguards.

User

We went here on Sunday, 21 January 2018 - the showers after coming out of the pool were completely out of hot water. It was icy cold to the point where it literally hurt to put your hand in it. I felt this was unacceptable - how does a rec center run out of hot water?? And I have a feeling that this is a common problem because there were signs warning you that the water may be cold.

User

Staff is rude tooo much micro management.they show professionalism but I feel too stressed to swim or anything.

User

I use this facility semi regularly, mostly in the mornings. I like how large the place is and how there are multiple squat racks and free weights areas to use. However the times that I have gone in the afternoons I have noticed an overwhelming stench of body odor. I can't say it's the best air to be breathing in when I'm trying to run on the track. The only recommendation I would give is to better enforce the rules on the track. But that's not a big deal.

User

I like it for a few reasons..easy access, comparatively newer than other rec centres, clean, child minding included in membership and various lessons and classes are offered here. Things that really needs to be looked at are first the scanning line up and secondly pool. The staff at front desk could be more friendly not that i care but it can be annoying sometimes. Second big thing is the pool.. for majority of the time it is closed for repairs or lanes are closed for lessons.

User

User

There are quite a few people who use the gym/ workout areas, who don't have a clue what gym etiquette is, and unfortunately most staff are too busy visiting to attend to them. The equipment is constantly being damaged by steroid users who are too cheap, to pay to lift at a proper gym.

User
