It’s a little crazy, this life. The twists and turns it takes and the roller coaster rides we are sometimes on with it! In Grade Nine I wrote in my year book that I wanted to be an Interior Designer, I am not sure I even knew what that was at the time. All I knew was that I loved drawing and creating things. After 4 years of college and a piece of embossed paper from Mount Royal University, I finally was one for real! My ten year career in the Architectural business was rewarding and very fulfilling in many ways, but I always felt there was something missing. I was dreaming up and drawing out big projects for clients in both residential and commercial settings. In 2005 I even went out on my own and started a little company called Urban Habitat. Beautiful homes and businesses were created and it was fun and challenging. I will never take for granted any of the opportunities I had, my clients were truly the best in the business. That missing puzzle piece though…was always in the back of my mind. I needed to build things, not just think them up.

So I dusted off Urban Habitat for a second go around, as an elemental design company. The work is about following ideas that inspire this little farm girl. If there is a curiosity for a concept, I follow it down the rabbit hole for a bit and see where it leads. It is about working with any and all elements to build things that are meaningful. Things that bring me joy, and perhaps if they bring a smile to my face they will to yours as well. My goal here is to inspire you…the human on the other side of this window…to follow your curiosity for things as well. For when we do that, we are truly alive.
