We have very exciting news!
The demand for physicians taking patients in Windermere continues to grow unabated.
... To help meet that demand, we have recruited two more excellent family physicians! :)
Dr. Amrinder Singh joins us from Winnipeg, Manitoba as of July! Dr Singh is an experienced family physician who graduated in India in 2005, before moving to North America. He is also a board certified family physician in the US. He is warm and friendly, with a wonderful bedside manner, and a well rounded knowledge base. He has kindly agreed to work two evenings per week as well as some weekends, to allow patients greater accessibility. He has also agreed to assist with our unique after hours service! Dr Singh is also fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi and has a special interest in health promotion and chronic disease management. He will be very popular and fill up rapidly!
Dr Andrea Brown has been with us a locum since last summer. She has kindly agreed to stay on and has already started accepting new patients. She has provided exceptional care to patients since she has been with us, and will be an excellent addition to the team. Dr Brown was born and raised in Alberta, and is a graduate from the University of Alberta. She, too, is a skilled physician, with a wonderful bedside manner. Every female physician we have recruited has filled up in less than a year! Dr Brown has started in much the same way - she is already fully booked with new patient appointments til mid-July!
We are now down to only 3 physicians who are still accepting new patients - drs Singh, Brown and Dr Hartley. In less than 3 years, our other 8 physicians have all filled up!

Dear Patients
We are very excited to announce the introduction of two new services to our clinic!
Firstly, we have discovered that there is a large unmet need for psychological counselling services in our community. Our PCN has provided an excellent counsellor who we have in office on Monday and Wednesday, but due to the demand for this service, wait times to see him are currently around 4 weeks.
... In order to provide counselling more promptly where needed, we have partnered with Family Care Psychology - an excellent team of private psychologists who will make themselves available to see patients at our clinic in the evenings.

Family Care Psychology will do direct billing to insurance plans if the payer allows it, as an added convenience to the patient. We are very excited to welcome them aboard!
In our ongoing efforts to provide the most comprehensive care possible, we have also introduced a physiotherapy partner!
We would like to welcome on board Windermere Plaza Physiotherapy!
We have two excellent therapists, Naima Ali and Param Kaur. Both are well rounded physiotherapists capable of treating a multitude of conditions. Both also specialize in pelvic floor physiotherapy - a much needed, under utilized service for many pelvic conditions.

Dear Patients
We have added an additional physician to increase capacity for our flu clinics!
Consequently, we still have plenty of room for the clinics this week (Wednesday and Thursday). We are also taking bookings for clinics next Wednesday and Thursday (November 29th and 30th).
... As before, flu clinic will be staffed by dedicated physicians between 3pm and 7pm. These will be quick, prebooked appointments (although we will accept same day/walk-in appointments if we have enough doses to go round).
Remember: in order to achieve herd immunity, 75% of the population needs to be vaccinated.
Why is herd immunity important? It protects our loved ones who can't be vaccinated from getting these highly infectious diseases (the newborns; the elderly and frail; our friends and family who are fighting cancers and other diseases that compromise immune systems)
Not only do we protect ourselves, we also protect them...

It's 'flu season - and we should all be doing our bit and get immunized to prevent an outbreak of epidemic proportions!
To that end, Windermere Plaza Medical Clinic, will aim to host evening vaccination clinics over the coming weeks. We will staff these clinics with an extra physician and a dedicated nurse to ensure short wait times and an efficient service.... The first of these clinics will be next Wednesday, from 3pm to 7pm. We encourage all patients who haven't yet been vaccinated to come in for your immunization. We will be booking appointments for these clinics. Please note, these will be quick appointments to ensure that we can immunize as many patients as possible, so no further medical issues will be addressed by the physician covering the vaccination clinic. We will however also have a physician covering walk-ins who can be seen if other medical issues need to be addressed. We encourage you to call early to book an appointment for yourself and your loved ones, so that we can pre-order enough doses to go around. We will also accept walk-ins and same day appointments (if we have enough doses to go round).
We are accredited to provide flu shots to all patients aged 6 months and older.
Please also note, that patients are welcome to come in for a regular appointment with their regular physician for a flu shot.

Dear Patients
We are very excited about Dr Tasneem Sajwani joining our team as of next week! She is an excellent, experienced family physician with wonderful interpersonal skills and a great bedside manner.
... Dr Sajwani has an existing patient panel, but still has room to take on new patients. She is filling up quickly, as has been the case with all of the physicians who have joined our team.
For Dr Sajwani's existing patients please note that we will make arrangements for any chart transfers that are required from Dr Sajwani's former clinic at no cost to you. To facilitate this, we will require a signed consent form requesting your medical chart. It is our hope to bulk transfer all of the required patient charts at once by the end of September. Once the bulk tranfer is done, patients requesting a chart transfer after that may be required to pay for their chart transfer. Consequently, we encourage all of Dr Sajwani's existing patients to come to our office and sign the transfer requests in the next few weeks.

We have very exciting news!
As the community of Windermere continues to grow, the demand for physicians accepting new patients continues to grow unabated.
... To meet that growing demand, Windermere Plaza Medical Clinic is expanding!
We have increased our capacity to house more than DOUBLE our current number of physicians, and have FOUR excellent new physicians joining our team!
Going forward, we will have 2-3 physicians who will see walk-ins working every evening, which means our capacity to see walk-ins in the evenings will DOUBLE, and our wait times for walk-ins will be significantly shortened!
We also have a physician available from 7:30am Monday to Friday for patients who would like to come in BEFORE WORK!!! (starting Monday August 14th)
Our two new female physicians have already been introduced in recent posts:
Dr Vicki Leung joined us as a locum in July and has now started taking her own patients as of August. She is taking some time off in September, and is booking new patient appointments into October!
Dr Tasneem Sajwani joins us in September and is also filling up quite rapidly. On average, the female physicians in our clinic have filled up in around 6 months, so patients looking for a female physician are advised to call soon!
We would like to introduce Dr Shahiem Hartley, who joins us full time as of August! Like drs Amien and Hassan, Dr Hartley was born, raised and completed his medical training in South Africa. Dr Hartley is a well rounded physician with excellent medical skills and a wonderful bedside manner. Dr Hartley was a qualified pharmacist before becoming a physician, which makes him exceptionally well versed in therapeutics. Dr Hartley has kindly agreed to make himself available two evenings per week as well as helping to cover some shifts on the weekend. Dr Hartley has also agreed to make himself available for the early morning appointments Monday to Friday!
The fourth physician joining our team is well known, well respected and much loved in the Windermere area.
It gives us great pleasure to welcome Dr. Adrian Geambasu to the team!
Dr Adrian Geambasu has been providing excellent care to patients in Windermere for more than a year! He is an exceptionally talented physician, who works four evenings per week, and will continue accepting new patients.
We are extremely fortunate to have so many dedicated physicians who are willing to make themselves available to provide care to patients outside of regular office hours. Such physicians are usually very hard to find!

We continue to have a large number of requests from patients looking for a family doctor. Keeping up with the demand is proving to be challenging!

Dr Sajwani joins us full time from a nearby clinic. She grew up in Edmonton and Fort McMurray, AB, and completed her residency at the University of Alberta.
She is an excellent, well-rounded physician, who is personable with a great bedside manner. She has a special interest in mental health (which is a rare and precious commodity amongst family physicians). She is also proficient in cosmetic procedures.
Dr Sajwani has an existing patient panel, but has room to take on more patients (for now).

As many of you know, most of our current group of physicians are at (or close to) capacity - yet the demand for good medical care continues to grow.
In view of this, we are very excited to announce that we have recruited yet another excellent family physician!
Dr Victoria Leung joins us as of July 2017! Dr Leung was born and raised in Edmonton and is a graduate of the University of Alberta.
Like drs Curtis and World, Dr Leung also has additional women's health training, and is proficient in IUD insertions, endometrial biopsies and related office gynecologic procedures. She is an excellent clinician with great people skills and a wonderful bedside manner. Just like our other recent recruits, she will fill up fast.
We continue to receive an overwhelming number of requests for family physicians accepting new patients. To keep up with this demand, we will be recruiting a few more physicians over the next few months (watch this space!)

We have yet ANOTHER excellent new female physician joining us full time!
... We are very pleased to announce that Dr Ashley Janzen will be accepting new patients as of next Monday (October 17th, 2016).
Some of our patients may already have met Dr Janzen, when she provided locum coverage for drs Amien and Hassan in the summer. She is a well-rounded physician with a broad knowledge base, and an excellent bedside manner. Dr Janzen hails from Kelowna, BC and is a graduate of the University of Alberta.
Dr Janzen has also very kindly agreed to make herself available for evening or weekend appointments at least once a week!
We are very fortunate to have Dr Janzen join our ranks. Due to the overwhelming number of requests for appointments we've had for Dr Lisa World who joined us at the beginning of October, wait times for meet and greet appointments with a female physician have stretched to 6 weeks! With Dr Janzen joining the team, we're confident we can reduce these wait times significantly!
