Yoga Khya Ltd. - Therapeutic Yoga Description

About Kyla Belich

Kyla began practicing yoga in 1994 as a means to recover from a car accident and began her career teaching yoga at YARD in 2002 while working as a Professional Engineer. Kyla has been exposed to many styles of yoga and is trained to teach Ashtanga and Yin.

In 2004, she was introduced to the methods of Yoga Therapist Susi Hately of Functional Synergy Inc. Susi’s approach and keen understanding of bio-mechanical principles weaved together Kyla’s engineering brain and love for yoga! In 2012, Kyla resigned her position as an engineer to complete her certification with Susi and to open a Good Earth Coffeehouse & Bakery Franchise.

Kyla has completed a 1000 hour Internationally recognized Yoga Therapy Certification (IAYT). Kyla primarily works one-on-one with clients out of her home studio.

Kyla has success helping people find relief from chronic pain and manage chronic illness and is trained in CalmSteadyStrong™ for those undergoing Cancer treatment. She is also trained in Rhythmic Movement Therapy which is an effective treatment learning, focus and behavioural challenges in children and coping, stress, phobias and anxiety in adults.

Kyla loves to laugh, often at herself, and maintains a lighthearted approach with her clients and students. She is a knowledgeable and compassionate teacher and healer that uses her tools of movement, stillness and breath to heal.

About Therapeutic Yoga

Yoga is one of the best forms of movement for your body. Therapeutic Yoga uses the traditional yoga asanas (poses /postures) to explore the movement in the body that is required to perform them. The body begins to learn proper movement in each part of the body and then these movements are eventually integrated into full asana.

Each individual has a way of moving that is influenced by many factors such as:
genetics
work
activities
injury
illness
aging

These patterns of movement may result in compensations that can lead to dysfunction and physical weakness and manifest as pain, tingling, tightness and achiness.

Where the pain is ≠ where the dysfunction is

Pain is a message from the body that there is dysfunction present. With chronic pain, the area feeling pain is rarely the area that is causing the problem. The key is to improve your movement patterns and the overall balance in the body. As this happens, you will learn what leads to your pain cycles and what you can do to shift this experience so that you are improving movement with every move you make. As this transition happens, you will feel your pain and tension reducing, you will feel more calm and at ease and you will even improve your strength.
