78th Field Battery is part of the 20th Field Regiment Royal Canadian Artillery, which is an army reserve unit based out of Red Deer and Edmonton Alberta.

78Th Field Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery Description

78th Field Battery is an artillery unit based out of Red Deer AB, that primarily uses the 105mm C3 Howitzer and the 81mm Mortar in an indirect fire role. We are also trained in small arms such as the C7 service rifle, the C9 Light Machine Gun and the C6 General Purpose Machine Gun.

As a part of the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve you are expected to parade (work) 1 Wednesday night a month and to participate in 1 field exercise a year. We are also able to deploy of domestic operations within Canada, I. e. the Calgary Floods.

The Primary Reserve can provide $2000 dollars a year, up to $8000 dollars towards your education.

If you are not planning on living in Red Deer Alberta your entire life we are able to transfer you to other units around Canada to accommodate your needs.
