Edmonton local handmade jewellery and artwork in support of community initiatives (and my education! ).

I think I’ve always been a bit of a “maker”… making crafts throughout my childhood, punny cards for my friends, or hand-painting signs for events and people. I enjoy it, and it’s the probably the most useful form of procrastination I’ve found. With a little push from friends and some extra thought, I’ve decided to make a place to share this more easily with people, and alas Adornments By AndieLou (my dad’s nickname for me) is a thing I’m giving a try.

Jewellery has been an exciting venture. The idea came to me while helping my dad clear a pile of old wood in Vernon, British Columbia this summer. I was fascinated by the beautiful ends of the cedar clippings we were collecting, and was at the same time learning how to use a wood burning tool. Tiny woodsy studs and live-edge wood pendants came next and it’s been a lot of fun. The idea of making jewellery out of nature I find spread further back home in Alberta at my childhood home. With the help of my sister, we collected pieces of autumn from around our acreage – bits of bark, moss, cones, flowers, and colorful leaves. Using the materials I collect, and thoughtfully picking the rest is what I hope makes Adornments unique. Each pendant and earring is handmade from materials I’ve found, in places I love.

I’m on my way through graduate school right now, living with the help of a generous student loan. I’m very grateful to have access to the support I need, but also do hope to not have that debt follow me for too long. Supporting Adornments is supporting this educational journey I’m on.
Additionally, 15% of each sale will be donated to a local community organization in Edmonton.

I use strong elastic and glue to hold together my jewellery however they are not indestructible. They are for adult use only. Do not let children play with or put the jewellery in their mouths.
