Kudos to the Alberta Children’s Hospital for being awarded the prestigious ChildKind certification. Alberta Children’s Hospital is the second hospital in Canada to receive this certification and the tenth worldwide. This endorsement recognizes healthcare facilities with standardized, institution-wide, collaborative approaches to the treatment of children’s pain.
This award demonstrates the dedication and success of staff and physicians onsite in implementing Commitment to Co...mfort©, a hospital-wide initiative that works to provide evidence-based interventions in pain prevention, assessment and management to reduce pain and distress for all children and families. Research shows that patients who receive quality pain management experience less distress in hospital, have shorter recovery periods and fewer return visits.
Thank you to the members of the Alberta Children’s Hospital pain committee for steering this initiative, and to staff and physicians throughout the hospital who ensure our patients receive world-class care.

Patients, families and staff from the Alberta Children’s Hospital were treated to an extra special holiday visit on December 17th when Santa Claus himself made the long trip from the North Pole to the Alberta Children’s Hospital for his annual holiday visit.
Along with Mrs. Claus, several of their four-legged, furry sidekicks, the infamous red-velvet clad duo pranced throughout the grounds of the hospital, waving to onlookers from every window of the hospital helping spread joy and countless smiles to the patients and families spending this year in hospital.

On December 13th, the Alberta Children's Hospital Townsend Tigers soundly defeated the Calgary Flames by a score of 25-2. Always good sports, the Flames spent time after the game creating crafts with the Tigers and fun was had by patients, families, Flames, and staff alike.

User

Even after the crushing blow, the Calgary Flames show what great sports they are and create crafts with some of our patients and families. Thanks for a fabulous afternoon!

User

The game is heating up! The Calgary Flames can barely keep up to the mighty Tigers!

A big thank you to the fabulous team of volunteers from Brookfield Residential Calgary for decking the halls of our hospital for the 12th year in a row. From trees to wreaths to garland and snowflakes, thank you for helping make the holiday season merry and bright for our patients, families, and staff.

Architectural renderings have been revealed for the new centre for child and adolescent mental health, being built in partnership between Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. The three-storey, 3,200-square-metre structure features a program area on each level, including walk-in services, intensive community treatment, and a day hospital.

We spent just under 3 months of our lives in the NICU department - 3 hours away from our home in order for our little Zephyr to get better, and I can't put into words how amazing the NICU department was. But I wanted to give a HUGE thank you to the most amazing nurse we've dealt with, Kerry. Whenever she was our nurse we would have a laugh, smile, and sometimes cry. Not only did I always know my baby was in good hands, but so were my husband and I. She always gave me tips, and always made me feel like the best mom in the world. I'm guessing she's on maternity leave now, but I just wanted to say you guys have the most incredible nurse in this hospital. Thank you Kerry, and thank you to the whole NICU department. I'm so greatful to be home with my baby that is doing incredible now thanks to the NICU department, Endocrinology, and GI.

User

We love this hospital! It's beautiful and doctors are great.

We DO NOT like the parkade ... the stalls are too small. Parking anything mini van sz or bigger can be tricky or impossible. (Would love to see it redone and stall space increased)

User

We cannot adequately express the extent of our gratitude and respect for Dr Riva-Cambrin, Dr Frank and their team at The Alberta Children’s Hospital. The feeling of trust, depth of confidence, and level of communication transmitted throughout Ole’s Cranial Vault Remodelling and Fronto-Orbital Advancement surgery were unparalleled...

To be honest, I'd rather not need to be here. BUT tHe facility is amazing, the staff caring and brilliant. I've spent many months here with our grandchild, and while I'd prefer to be at home, playing with a healthy toddler, I am thankful beyond words for this facility which is giving us hope.

User

They saved my son's life. I will be forever in debt to the ACH. Please become a "Miracle Maker" during the Radiothon fundraising drive, ACH lottery, or the several other ways you can give. This incredible facility attracts the best of the best of surgeons available because of the state of the art equipment, research programs, and knowledgeable staff. All of the drawing power and purchasing power is enhanced through YOUR donations.

Please help support this great facility and staff.

Love you guys!!

There’s no words to describe how amazing the staff in the NICU are. Our daughter has been here for four months and it’s been a long and dreadful process but we know she is in awesome hands! Can’t be more thankful for the Chidren’s hospital and everything they are doing for us! The doctors, surgeons, RTS and of course our amazing superheroes-the nurses are so incredibly wonderful!

User

There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for the Alberta Children's Hospital and all the staff and volunteers who have helped our family over the last 3 years...our son would not be here today if not for you ALL! I'm not sure the 'love it' option is appropriate as we don't 'love' coming here but a 5 star for 'thankful' certainly is!!!

User

The staff are so out standing thank you so much love and appreciation from the Glimsdale family

User

Thanks to all the wonderful staff that are giving our daughter the utmost care. Her pancreatitis is acting up again. We spent all last summer after the Fort McMurray wildfires. Due to our daughter's health and losing all our contents in our rental due to smoke damage. We since relocated to Red Deer. March 12/2017 she got re admitted. The wonderful staff is taking good care of her and for that we are truly grateful.

User

My son was diagnosed with ALL on April 1st. We've been in ACH twice since then and every time we've had amazing nurse's. Our oncology team is just phenomenal. We can't thank everyone enough for all they have done to make our stay there as good as it can possibly be! We are truly blessed to have such an amazing hospital on our doorstep. Thankyou ACH for all that you do to make every child feel so loved and special during their stay.

User

My daughters eye surgery was a breeze thanks to the excellent care we received. I never thought she would take an IV but the staff worked miracles and it was no problem. We also got to meet Medi the robot whom she now loves and talks about all the time.

User

In the last year we have spent quite a bit of time there, Friday was one of them for minor day surgery. From the moment you step foot into this hospital you are greeted with open arms until the moment you leave, from the admitting desk to the amazing, phenomenal nurses thank you for being so amazing to my children and I. A special thank you to the nurse that handed me a Kleenex when I said good bey to my son in the operating room and walked me back to the waiting room, you sir made that moment easier on me just knowing you were there.

From the moment we set foot in the hospital, till we pulled out of the parking garage. We were treated with the utmost care and respect.Service staff, nurses, doctors everyone actually seemed to genuinely want to be there.Bewildered and confused we soon felt at ease with service staff helping us and guiding us to where we needed to be.The medical staff were exceptional and treated my daughter with grace and respect. They took very good care of me as well.I was treated with respect, well informed and felt my daughter was as precious to them as to me.

Definitely the best place to take your child if you are not getting the answers needed to get them better. The staff were extremely efficient, friendly, supportive and all around amazing! They took a exceptional care of my daughter and were competent in answering any questions and relaying information needed before procedures.

Thank you to so much to all that helped us at Alberta Children's Hospital, my daughter is finally on the mend ❤

A huge THANK YOU to everyone at the Alberta Children's Hospital these last few days.

Xavier was struggling to breathe, we took him to Emerg at the Children's - the wait was 2 hrs 50 mins when we arrived. A nurse saw us shortly after we arrived, Xavier's oxygen levels were down, really down. All the staff sprung into action, he was immediately taken to a facilitating room where he started getting assessed and treated - amazing! During the chaos, some wonderful stranger offered me a teddy bear for Xavier - I didn't even see their face, I just remember saying thank you. This bear would prove to be Xavier's cuddle buddy for the rest of our stay, which was 3 days, Gus is his name. Thank you, random stranger!

From the moment we arrived to the time we were discharged we were treated with amazing, kind, educated, concerned health care professionals and a facility that is equipped to deal with any kind of situation that would arise. All of these factors were able to get my X-Man back up and running to his, almost, regular self.

After reflecting last night, I have to be so thankful that we live less than 20 minutes away from one of the best child care facilities in western Canada and the staff that fills that building(s).

I am so very grateful for all of the help received from everyone at ACH, THANK YOU!

User
