About Alberta Library Trustees Association

Alberta Library Trustees Association (ALTA) was founded in 1971 and is the collective voice for library boards and library trustees that govern public libraries across Alberta. Our membership currently consists of over 1200 active library trustees providing governance to over 180 library boards, all who volunteer their time to oversee the successful operations and services of public libraries throughout the province. ALTA promotes effective library service and leadership via education, communication and advocacy through the development of a comprehensive series of trustee education workshops and resources. We strive to ensure all library trustees have access to the information, resources and education they need to be effective and strong leaders within their library communities "Great Public Libraries - Effective Trustees.
