Alberta Methane Emissions Program

About Alberta Methane Emissions Program

The program is intended to enable methane emissions reductions in Alberta's oil and gas industry, while supporting government regulatory revisions, reducing costs to industry, and assuring best practices regarding methane detection and management. AMEP is funded by Alberta's Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) Fund and administered by the Delivery Agent Partnership (DAP) established by Carbon Management Canada (CMC) and the Sundre Petroleum Operators Group (SPOG). Under the sponsorship of Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) and in collaboration with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), the AMEP will provide an international showcase for environmental and economic improvements that can be generated by private sector innovation, academic research and development and proactive policy and regulation.
