About Alberta Tomorrow Foundation

The Alberta Tomorrow Foundation is committed to educating Alberta citizens and students in sustainable land-use planning through the use of land-use simulation software. The Alberta Tomorrow educational tool is a free, interactive, web-based computer simulation that uses cutting edge GIS technology and research from leading Alberta scientists to teach the long term effects of natural resource management on ecological and economic values in Alberta. Users observe how their local landscape has changed in the past, and how it might change in the future. The simulation allows users to design their own strategy for resource development and ecological protection, run it through the simulator and see the consequences. Field data from around the province, including water quality data and land-use observations, can be stored in the simulator and viewed by any user. A tool for anyone concerned about the future of Alberta, free lesson plans have also been developed for the Alberta curriculum for use in Grade 4, Grade 7 Science, Grade 9 and 10 Social Studies, Grade 11 Biology and Science, as well as Outdoor and Environmental Education. Take the challenge. . . . develop a sustainable land-use plan for Alberta! www. albertatomorrow. ca
