Alisha Marie is a ceramic and fibre based artist. Her work currently revolves around the idea of secrets and
confessions. Using fragmented thoughts Alisha Marie shares insight into the recovery process she is currently
undertaking to better live with traumas from her past that she has been dealing with since childhood. These
fragmented thoughts are often hidden in highly decorative surface designs. Drawing from nature and floral imagery her
work inspires a playful and often colourful interpretation on life. Alisha Marie is a disabled artist who lives with chronic
pain as well as complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and is
currently being tested for fibromyalgia, traumatic brain injuries, and an autoimmune disease, which influences not only
the themes surrounding her work but how she is able to work. Alisha lives with complex PTSD and BPD after a life
time of sexual, physical and mental abuse occurred during her up bringing and in her first adult relationship of four and
a half years. Sifting through the effects of trauma Alisha Marie aims to make captivating and powerful work that allow
insight into the after effects of these traumatic experiences, and hopes that by sharing part of herself in her work
others will become more comfortable in sharing their stories as well.
