Allan Beach Resort Description

Located at Hubbles Lake near Stony Plain and less than 30km west of Edmonton, Alberta on the Highway 16 corridor, Allan Beach Resort could not be more convenient for weekend getaways. Imagine finishing work on a Friday and within 1 hour relaxing with your family and friends, watching the sun set over the lake.
Hubbles Lake is a peaceful, clear, spring fed lake nestled in the rolling country just west of Stony Plain in the County of Parkland. The lake is reserved for non-motorized watercraft and boasts excellent canoeing, scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. The clear water and surprising depth (30m) have made it a popular destination for over 60 years.

The campground offers 180 sites, private roads, park areas and a beautiful sandy beach.

Allan Beach Resort has enjoyed tremendous popularity for decades as a public campground and public day use beach area due to its close proximity to Edmonton. It is very hard to find a recreational property in Alberta that you can get to in under 3 hours that offers you such a beautiful, peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.

What an incredible experience this past weekend! Words cannot describe how amazed we are at the love and generosity of our work partners!
At 8am on Friday morning while travelling from Calgary to Stony Plain to open the resort this weekend, I had a crazy idea. By 9:00am and a few calls to our vendors and staff, we had an entire team at Allan Beach installing new water lines and power to create 15 long term serviced sites to offer evacuees of Fort McMurray for no cost. It was... unbelievable to see the team work and the donations of time, equipment and supplies offered. Our contractors and their staff worked until late Friday night and into Saturday to get the job done.
Saturday night 2 truck loads of food and supplies arrived at 1am in the morning that are now stocked in our store.
Saturday morning our first family arrived. As of today, 6 have settled in and we wait for the remainder to pull in over the next few days.
A HUGE HUGE THANK YOU goes out to the following:
L & B Water Services for obtaining water cisterns at cost, pump equipment at no cost and donating their time installing the water lines.
Payneless Electric for offering the electrical supplies at cost and donating their electricians time after hours to instal the power.
Handi can for donating porta potties and offering service for free.
Champs Pressure Washing/Septic for offering sewer pump out service for no cost.
Stanley Pump for donating a free pump and water lines.
Kristopher Kory Mercer and team for donating 2 truckloads of supplies at 1am Sunday morning.
Our staff Amanda and Ryan for helping to coordinate the efforts and all the other amazing things they do.
And last but certainly not least my partner in crime Kevin for letting me order him around and pull him in a million directions this weekend. I could not have done this without you!
This was truly a TEAM effort and we are so proud of everyone that took this crazy idea and made a reality!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

3 Spaces Still Available!!!
There is NO CHARGE for these lots and can offer a longer term arrangement for the summer if needed.
To those affected by the Fort McMurray wildfires, Allan Beach Resort has secured additional services to accommodate 15 families who were able to flee the fires with their RV's.
... We are located 5 minutes west of Stony Plain, AB. 25 minutes west of Edmonton.
You will be able to park your RV along our lakefront and will have access to all essential services including power, water, porta potties and sewage removal.
Through generous donations, we have stocked our store with food, toiletries and other essential items for you to take for free.
We will be working with these families to get them everything they need to make their stay as comfortable as possible during this difficult time.
Please call or email our resort to register your family.

For security purposes we will ask for proof of Fort McMurray residency.

Such a beautiful beach and the lake is equally as nice. Love paddle boarding there.

User

Our family really likes this beach it's only a 30 min drive from our house

User

No complaints - as far as beaches in and around the Edmonton area, this one is one of the best. Worth the price of admission as it stays maintained. Really nice sand, clean water, and close to home.

User

It would be a challenge to find a more organized, friendly and well-run waterfront site near Edmonton. The beach is always clean. Staff are friendly, informed and helpful. I have never felt anything but welcomed when I head down for a wet-suit swim or bring a kayak. I train open water here for triathlons and it's a perfect spot. You can cross to the other beach (roughly 850m away), take a break and then race back. There is a speed limit in boats so there are NO wavy wakes or fear of collisions. Toilet facilities are available and the admin building has snacks and cold treats for hot summer days. No dogs allowed means a clean sitting area with plenty of picnic tables. The roped-in shallow beach area is nice and sandy without being gritty. Perfect for little-ones to splash around safely. A welcoming place to visit on a hot summers day.

User

I was so awed this gem is only 30 mins away from Edmonton! The best beach and water so far I have been to in Alberta. Beats driving to Sylvan Lake for 2 hours and dealing with the crap in the water.

Yes you pay 12.50 to get in...but your commute is easy peasy.

User

I love this place. For sure, there are some things that could be improved, but you can't beat it for the lake, the beach and the proximity to Edmonton.

User

I have to give a HUGE shout out to the people working at Allen Beach yesterday, Friday July 6th 2018.

I drove from Edmonton with my two kids and our neighbor's son to play in the water for the afternoon.

Unfortunately, I forgot to bring our disability placard! With this beach you park at the main entrance and walk down to the water. It's paved, and not a very long walk, but for a 6 and 8 year old who both have Autism it might as well be Mt Everest.

I explained our situation to the parking attendant, and they had us talk to the staff at the main building where the convenience store is. When we parked we had a lovely young lady help me park in the right spot, and the staff at the store wrote us up a temporary parking pass.

Their questions to me were thoughtful and understanding, and our experience was so good. We don't often encounter such understanding and empathetic people in the community, so every employee who helped us yesterday deserves a huge THANK YOU.

The beach was clean and the water was perfect! The new port a potties were immaculate!

I also forgot our noise cancelling headphones, so my kids only lasted an hour in the heat with the crowd, but it was AWESOME.

Thank you. Without the accomodations from the staff we wouldn't have been able to stay at all. We appreciate you all so much!

Going back soon .this time hopping for more sun and less wind .was little windy .would love to camp but not tenting here

User

Feel privileged to be able to camp at Allan Beach. Melodies sounds of loons & red wing blackbirds. No gas motor water crafts allowed so it's quiet. The lake is very deep so it's clean and cold. The beach is clean and raked nightly. Family friendly, well managed, a little pricey but that's to be expected - its less than 1/2 hr from Edmonton.

User

Excellent experience, friendly staff and clean facility.

At Allen beach yesterday with grandkids loved it can't wait to go back

Allan Beach Resort is instrumental in the production of The Great White North Triathlon. To say that the management and staff are accommodating to the race and it's athletes is an understatement. The resort is always clean, well maintained and ran in a truly professional manner. We often take our kids down there while I swim and it's a great family atmosphere and an amazing way to kill a hot afternoon at the beach, ONLY 20 MINS from Edmonton. The GWN Triathlon loves Allan Beach Resort!!!

User

Absolutely loved it! My only critique would be that a non-portable toilet would make it 150%.

User

closet beach to the city that you can go and actually use the water

User

Lots of pollen in the air around may long and leeches but in July August it’s beautiful ❤️ Nice to have a place to go to not far out of the city

User

Kind of a rip off! Water is dirty, red ants all over the beach! Don't go!

User

I really enjoyed this little gem close to Edmonton.

Unfortunately, I contracted one of the worst cases of swimmers itch I've ever had.

User

I had a site at Allan Beach for two seasons. I did love Allan Beach, but I have a large trailer and I wanted the full service hook ups. I never had any issues myself with the management at Allan Beach. Amanda was a great Park Host and Manager. I saw her and her family work non stop, her Husband Ryan, didn't work for Allan Beach, but I sure saw him hauling in the stock for the store, driving the water truck, fixing pretty much anything Amanda asked him to. As if this wasn't enough for a man who didn't work there, he also managed to cook dinner for her and the family most nights!

As with any new park, or re opening park comes challenges of getting things up to full capacity and operating. I respected that these would take time and was willing to wait. I decided to leave Allan beach after hearing about another park from some who were vacating. I checked it out and like many others decided it was the place for my family.

I will point out that while I didn't have any issues, I did hear rumblings from others. I do know that some people had issues with a particular individual on the management team and I too spoke with the individual on the management team and while I agree that some of the concerns were legitimate, I believe the person on the Management Team was just not equip't to handle the people side of running a park of this magnitude. I also don't think that people writing bad reviews or slamming the park will solve the problem. I would encourage people to send a letter to the Management Company and have them address issues or concerns. Like in any business you can only fix problems you know about. Some of the great things about Allan Beach were that it is close to the City, has a great lake and Beach, has a great store and super slushies!!! The Park was never noisy at night and never did I ever have anything damaged or removed from our site. The (Water Boy), lol but not really, as he did almost everything in the Park. This man is Dave and he is one of the nicest, kindest men I have ever met. In fact his skills were needed in the Park very much with his over , 30 years of camping experience, he knew everything about a trailer and hooking things up, He has that "Old Man Smart", you know the last generation of men that had to kind of know how to do plumbing, heating, mechanics.. you know everything! He worked so hard this summer he and his wife Lynn to do so many jobs that people just don't notice or expect to thank someone for, like garbage removal, raking the beach daily, and making sure those big water tanks were full.

My recommendations for TRG Management to address next year are as follows;

Remove the old trailer from the site, do a better job managing the speeders, make sure if the well is to be used as a water source that it will be fully tested and treated. I would also like to suggest a playground for Children. If the Park can get all the operations in order it will become a family park where people will stay for years, I wish the Park and all the people who enjoy it a great winter. I will purchase my Summer Day Use Pass next year and I hope to enjoy many days there with Friends I still have in the Park!!

User

Went to visit friends of ours and got stopped at the office by some guy named Lee who asked far to many questions it was like i was visiting someone in jail, then when we were at our friends site he would pass by slowly and stare at us, not a very welcoming place !!!!!!!!!!!

Went to visit friends of ours and got stopped at the office by some guy named Lee who asked far to many questions it was like i was visiting someone in jail, then when we were at our friends site he would pass by slowly and stare at us, not a very welcoming place !!!!!!!!!!!

User

Such a beautiful beach and the lake is equally as nice. Love paddle boarding there.

User

Our family really likes this beach it's only a 30 min drive from our house

User

No complaints - as far as beaches in and around the Edmonton area, this one is one of the best. Worth the price of admission as it stays maintained. Really nice sand, clean water, and close to home.

User
