Artio Description

Artio is a youth ensemble that specializes in choral music that is distinct, demanding, diverse and innovative. We explore a variety of genres from early music, through to innovative creations being crafted by today’s composers. We re-imagine and re-invent music of the past and embrace the avant-garde music of tomorrow, while continually pushing the boundaries of choral music and performance.

We presents choral music performances that fuse music with innovative ideas and other art forms — “choral theatre” performances that highlight the season, and give audiences exciting new performance presentations that draw upon the talent and imagination of our members.

Artio is highly sought-after in the Calgary music scene; from working with renowned musicians like Tanya Tagaq and Chris Hadfield in the Bella Concert Hall, to informal performances in the Riddell Library, we bring an unmatched performing energy with us wherever we go.

Collaborating with everyone; traditional choirs and orchestra, to Taiko drummers, water bowls, and ice, we're fearless in approaching the unknown and unfamiliar.
