a true gem of the north

Words, pictures and videos, cannot and will not ever do this festival justice. You simply have to experience it.

This group sure has the FULLY right idea. It is the most true festival experience in the western Canada electronic music scene. They have a very diverse community and SOOOO importantly they have a LOT of workshops and family friendly place. The vibe is FOR REAL. Definitely coming back.;',)

This festival is the best, lots of activities for all kinds of minds, great music, amazing stages and variety of music (mostly electronic). Don't forget about the awesome beach stage down by the river! Great river for cooling off on hot days! People are awesome, and there's lots of yoga to keep your body feeling good!! :-)

This festival is by far the crown jewel of the festival season. It doesn't get any better than this. Sure, some are bigger, but no festival can compare to the amount of love and value you can find at Astral. It's always encouraged a dialogue between the people who organize it and its attendees, and it leaves you feeling inspired and transformed into something stronger and lighter.



Having been coming to the festival for 5 years, it was especially exciting for me to be able to give back in the form of a workshop at the festival and help attendees move forward with their personal journey. It has added so much to my own personal journey, more than anything else.



I never leave feeling anything short of bursting at the seams with love and joy.

The vibe and creativity and performance art and sheer outpouring of love at this festival makes it a highlight of our summer every year. This is a festival never to be missed. The spinners, the dancers, the costumes, the vendors, the music - everything is incredible. We go to the Fair to ground, and then go to Astral to LAUNCH into the cosmos! So much love for everyone at the Harvest who make it what it is every single year by pouring their heart and creativity into this fest. One of the best fests around, no question. <3 <3 <3

TL-DR: Great time, would repeat!



Primarily electronic music at the venue, tunes lean in slightly different directions year to year, but the selection of styles is always varied between the stages. Eclectic bands, acoustic sets, loopers, MC's, and other creative musical acts are interspersed throughout the days to keep things fresh and foster a range of moods.



Aside from the incredible stages and festival infrastructure, art includes things like giant installations, interactive exhibits or workshops, roving performance troupes, scheduled routines from dance and flow artists, tent galleries, and a wide variety of artisan vendors.



People in attendance are often their own category of art, typically indulging with unique style and self-expression. As mentioned by many other reviews they are overwhelmingly generous, creative, energetic, and positive festival goers. Altercations are few and far between, and there is a strong level of care towards fellow festival goers.



In the unfortunate event that someone is having a bad time there is a very well stocked & staffed harm reduction area, a soothing chill out space, and a friendly EMS team who will do everything they can to keep you safe and healthy.



Things also seem to get better every year so come check it out!

My favourite festival. While it might not get the huge name headliners of an EDC or the like, the vibe and the community make this festival my yearly get away from reality. It's where I visit my other family so to speak.

My all time favorite festival. It feels like home every time, the people are so welcoming, caring and inclusive and there is literally something for everyone of all ages.

Love the focus on up and coming artists, the truly family friendly atmosphere, the vast range of knowledge to choose from at conferences and workshops. A home grown Alberta event where you can dance to the wee hours, laze by the river, open your mind to new ideas, reconnect with your body and move. If you love seeing people be free to be themselves - you will love this festival.

First road trip and festival ever in Canada for me! I had the most amazing, heartwarming and fun experience of my life at this festival. Even for those weary of such crowds like I was initially, if you want the best festival experience you could possibly have you need to come to Astral :)
