This might be our favourite review of a private sleigh ride ever! "I truly can’t get enough photos of red sleighs in the the snow. Especially if the backdrop is the majestic Rocky Mountains. The perfect spot to capture such photos is at Warner Stables in Banff. The Banff Trail Riders made our sleigh ride experience second-to-none. The friendly staff are awesome and make it such a wonderful visit. The marshmallow roast over the crackling outdoor fire warms the body and the sou...l. Hot chocolate to sip on also keeps one warm on a crisp day in the mountains. The scent of hay in the stables is heaven for the senses .A stunning red cutter drawn by one of the sturdy horses is such a sight to see. One keeps toasty-warm on these rides tucked under a heavy buffalo hide. No chance of getting cold when snuggled under a Buffalo skin with your sweetheart. Chocolates and champagne are included in this ride to enjoy whilst on the ride or afterwards. We have done the couples sleigh ride twice and look forward to doing it again." 📸: novascotia65 (Instagram)

We enjoyed last weekend with Banff trail Riders the girl who riding with us she is awsome she is very friendly and knowledgeable girl (sorry i forgot her name but i have pic of her) defenetly going back next year....thanks.

User

Thanks for a great trail ride earlier this week. The horses are well cared for, and not overworked, the scenery fantastic and the guides knowledgeable and competent. Thank you to the guide on my ride, April for a full commentary of the area and points of interest (as I was at the back of the string and not able to hear the lead guide), really informative and enthusiastic, a great ambassador for your company. Would highly recommend!

User

Thank you for a great ride yesterday, my hubby and I opted for the 10am 1 hr slot, best he tried the 1 hr as he'd never sat on a horse before. We thoroughly loved it and somehow, although I was apprehensive as I have a bad hip, it actually made some vast improvement in the pain I've been having.

User

Really enjoyed our experience! Defiantly recommend ďż˝ Great trail, with amazing views! George was a great guide! ďż˝

User

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hour lunch ride. Guides were fun, knowledgeable and lunch was super tasty. Nice experience.

User

I went on the 6 day/5 night back country ride to Halfway lodge with a group from my riding school at the beginning of September. The experience has been nothing but positive for me. We were greeted and assigned a horse that matched our skill level (and might I say personality?!!!). The guides Josh and Robo took such good care of us and the horses and they worked so hard to make our ride and stay a positive one. They went above and beyond their call of duty, being patient with those that needed a little extra help, and accommodated us as best as they could. We had so many laughs on this trip, and enjoyed the trails and scenery.

The cooks at both lodges did a fabulous job and kept us well fed. Love the sandwiches and salads and/or cookies for lunches, the dinners were great and the breakfast was always a great start to our day. Emily and Olivia are great girls, and great cooks.

The lodges were really comfortable and beautiful. Halfway lodge must be seen and experienced, no pictures do it justice.

The only thing that was a bit of an inconvenience was that we had to wait 2 hours after returning to the stables for our bags. It all worked out thankfully though.

THANKS to all the staff who made our experience such a wonderful one. It was worth every penny.

User

I went on the 2hr trail ride on the 7th July ,thoroughly enjoyable experience . Stable set up is excellent . All persons working there showed great knowledge and respect for the horses . Horses in fantastic condition . Would definitely say to take part in this experience in some way but take your bug spray !!

User

Had a wonderful relaxing ride through Banff on my lovely horse, Teddy! The cook out was fab and gave us a chance to enjoy good food and talk to other riders on the same trail. If you're in Banff you should definitely book a trail!

User

Exceptional, awesome ... once in a life time experience ... just getting back down from the euphoria of a three day riding trip to the Sundance Lodge and the back country.

The opportunity to ride immaculate horses (can't go past Bart) through pristine back country, crossing flowing rivers and through dense forest areas was beyond expectations. Brooke and Bree (our guides) made the riding trip unique, entertaining and memorial ... thank you.

The end of each day met with the comfort of the Sundance Lodge ... warm rooms, hot showers and unbelievable meals (thanks Hope for all your culinary skills). The companionship of other guests enhanced by true characters that we were able to spend time with from the Banff Trail Riding team (especially Matt and Tyler).

We came to Banff looking for a wonderful experience ... and have left with a memory that will stay with us for the rest of our lives ... thank you so much!!

User

Excellent place to go for a ride in the mountains. I went here back as early as the 70's for a trail ride

User

Did the Bow River 3h-Tour last week with Tess and Jess and that was the perfect Tour for 2 novice riders. We had such a great experience so today we did the Sulphur Mountain 3h-ride and had a blast!

We felt a lot more confident on the second ride, which was great as we met a black bear on the trail. Both horses and our guide Brittnay did a great job at the encounter.

All the guides and staff we met where very friendly and knew alot about the horses, the area, trees, animals and flowers.

Thank you so much for such an amazing way to explore the area!

User

Booked a 2 day ride and was not disappointed. There were 12 riders and 2 guides in our group and everyone absolutely enjoyed themselves. The views were stunning, the food was fantastic and the guides were amazing. The lodge was beautiful and Amy kept us fed and made sure no one was left hungry. It was well worth the money and thanks to Banff Trail Riders, we had a great first trip out west!

User

Best morning ever ! Thank you Anna for your knowledge on the 1 Hour Bow River Trail. We really enjoyed ourselves

User

A truly wonderful experience! A 3 day tent camp at Stoney Creek. Our guide Aja was extremely knowledgable and friendly and our camp cook “Dr” Mary ( ) catered for our every need, awesome hosts.

The horses; Sleeman and Sulphur were an absolute pleasure to ride, and looked after us (novices) tremendously well. And the scenery...well take the trip, you won’t be disappointed.

User

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Due to a severe rainstorm and reduce visibility, I had to make a phone call advising them we would not be there 30 minutes early. They said as long as we were there 15 minutes early it would be okay and to call again if we couldn’t make it so they could rebook us for the later one. We managed to arrive 17 minutes early. The guides were very friendly and helpful. I did have an issue with the first horse; however they swapped for one more friendly. The Sundance Loop is a real trail ride, on varying terrain levels. We would definitely go again!

User

We were having a really nice ride until my son was thrown off of his horse. There was a bright, silver hubcap on the path and my son's horse got spooked and panicked. I am writing this review in hopes that this type of accident will be prevented in the future. When we were filling out an accident report, we were told that the horses have set routines and can be spooked by unfamiliar things (even a big rock may spook them). If this is the case and the staff were aware of this fact, then one of two things could and should have happened to prevent this incident: 1) the guides from the previous ride should have picked up the hubcap (if it was there during their ride) or 2) our head guide, Grace, should have stopped and picked up the object instead of proceeding ahead, with my son following on his horse. Getting thrown off a horse is a serious matter and luckily my son didn't suffer any broken bones or worse. I hope that you will review your policy and that your staff shows more due diligence in making sure that these types of accidents can be prevented in the future.

User

Did the Private Couple sleigh ride a few winters ago. It was OK, but boring. Staff was nice and knowledgeable. Description read : "Includes: Fireside stop with Champagne, chocolates and an authentic buffalo robe." There was no fire and it was so dark outside you couldn't actually see anything (wasn't their fault but I pictured some sort of lit path). I thought it would be more in the mountains not just in circles on the property. Overall I would of just paid the regular fee on a group ride. The Champagne and chocolates were a nice touch but it was too cold to drink on the ride, hot chocolate would of been more suitable.

User

We took a corporate retreat to Banff. We (a group of 12'people) booked a "Cowboy Cookout" which was to be a horse back ride to a BBQ. The excursion was an entire evening event. We prepaid $1,800 ($150 x 12 people). The event began at 5pm. We were supposed to be 15 minutes early. We checked in at 4:52 pm. We were told the cutoff was 4:45 and we were refused to go on the excursion. When we asked what we missed they said "a weigh in" and "signing the waiver" - which was a one page document sitting on the counter. Remember this was a prepaid event. We literally watched another group saddle up on our horses and trot out of the stable. We were denied a horseback ride and the dinner we had pre paid $150 per person for. Rather than making any accommodations whatsoever they said they have a strict no refund policy and we could go pound sand.

Kelsey and her "manager" Katie were unapologetic, rude, dismissive, and when I told her I would pursue getting my $1,800 back, she said "good luck with that." This company is all about money with no interest whatsoever for the customer. Because we were visiting for the States and leaving Banff, they were happy to steal $1,800 despite providing nothing in return. We even offered to walk to the cookout on the horse trail, they refused.

User

Sadly I purchased a voucher and the opening to the season changed. They won’t give me my money back because it’s a voucher and it doesn’t expire. Sadly this is my first time to Banff and don’t know if and when I will be back.
