Ben Catering Services Description
I am honored to be able to introduce Ben’s Catering, operated and owned by Chef Veda (Ben) Moorghen to everyone in the Peace Country. In my forty years in the foodservice industry as a supplier, cook and restaurant owner, I have met many Certified Journeyman Chefs. Some which were very good and some that were not so good. However, I can count the number of exceptional Chefs I have met and worked with on one hand and still have a couple of fingers left over. Chef Ben is one of those few exceptional Chefs.
Some of you may know of Chef Ben through his catering at Evergreen Park for such extravagant events as the GPRC President’s Ball, the Community Foundation Gala, Festival of Trees or the PSAC Stars and Spurs Gala. Who can forget his marvelous creations for the Dino Ball, with Dan Aykroyd and Friends. However, there is a lot more to Chef Ben than what meets the eye.
We are very fortunate to have a Chef and Caterer with the artistic, creative culinary skills as Chef Ben. For over 20 years, he has been studying and working around the world and now he brings these skills to everyone in Grande Prairie.
From catering for the Louis Nellan Govt School, the Port Louis Police department and Candos Hospital in Mauritius to the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Lewis, Washington. Chef Ben has continued to impress. In November of 2002, while serving as a Chef for the British Army, Chef Ben was voted “Best Chef In The Indian Ocean. ” That covers a lot of ground or should I say water?
The Mauritius Military, British Royal Corps, French, US and Indian Armies have all had the pleasure of experiencing Chef Ben’s expertise in Creole, Indian, European and Chinese cuisine before he came to Grande Prairie.
