Derek and his team did an amazing job fixing my damaged siding. Not only was the price fair, he completed the project extremely fast. I would recommend Big 5 exteriors to everyone. Thank you again.

City of Calgary required mandatory downspout disconnection. We requested an estimate from Big 5, and Derek called us back and was at our house within a couple of hours.

The work was completed before schedule and in a very professional manner. Top notch service delivered as promised. Highly professional, personable team and we would recommend them to anyone. Great company. Family business. Highly recommended

What a joke! Complete waste of time. Don't deal with these fools.

We called and spoke to AL at approximately 8:30am, asked him to come to the house to take a look at the siding on the deck because it isn't installed properly and the deck is leaking. He said he would come over.

At 10:15am AL called, said he had come to the house, looked at the deck. Well - he DIDNT come to the house at all. We were at home and we have 2 dogs - if he had come to the house and walked around, we would have seen him, heard him and the dogs would have barked.
If he was at the house why not ring the bell and talk to us? Because he wasn't here at all! This lazy fool just used Google Earth to look at our house - the same tool roofers use to get measurements for new roofing projects - and decided he didn't want to come out.

I guess he saw that the house and siding is 30 years old and decided we need new siding all over the entire house instead of a repair to fix a leak. Unethical.

Complete waste of time. I wouldn't recommend these guys ever. Would give ZERO stars if that was an option.

I chose Big5 to re-shingle the roof on my house. They were prompt, professional, and did an excellent job. We did have a mishap with some water leakage due to some damaged flashing, and when I called them Derek came out on a Sunday, long weekend and personally inspected the house. They replaced the flashing and also upgraded all the ice shield beyond the requirements in that area. They also handled the repairs for the small bit of water damage perfectly.

This is why I will recommend them. Not just because of the quality of the work they did, but because they'll stand behind it when something unanticipated goes awry. The true measure is accountability, and these guys are just that.

I recently had a repair job done on my cedar siding by Big 5 Exteriors Ltd.

They seemed to be very decent overall, but I've never been through any kind of job like this so I didn't have anything to compare the experience against. After purchasing a new place I discovered this past summer that one of my windows leaked a lot right into the walls. I promptly had the windows replaced, and during that process they found significant rot and damage to the siding. After struggling for a few months with insurance and the condo board (neither of which would pay) I was able to get going on the repair and reached out to Big 5.

The initial quote was lower than I expected by far but depending on if the plywood needed to be replaced in addition to the siding, no telling what was behind the siding until removing it. Once they removed the siding the horror behind it was revealed. All the plywood and studs we rotted, insulation was shot too, and the interior drywall had yet to be assessed. The quote was promptly revised to double.

The next day they were able to determine that the drywall was fine and there were no concerns about mold. They ordered new 14' studs which took one day longer than expected, then another one day delay was introduced when they found out the siding was painted on the wrong side (prior to install obviously). After day 3 everything was fully repaired and you can't tell anything was ever wrong. The total came out to just under the highest quote. The area done was about the size of 2 bedrooms, so not overly large like an entire side of a house.

I've seen one other unit have this same repair done, coincidentally done by Big 5 too, but their damage included flooring also, yikes. I'm happy with the results, and while it would be nice to see photos throughout the process so I could judge the value of the work, I'm just glad to have it over and done. They were pretty quick and great guys to deal with.

Hopefully this helps others decide who to go with for a siding repair company (they do other stuff too).
