Went with my fiance for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. Great price. Amazing food. Was super different then anywhere we've been but the atmosphere and location was amazing. Highly recommend!
This review comes on our second visit out to Big Sky BBQ, just in case the first trip was a fluke Both trips were huge successes as the food was delicious and plentiful, atmosphere is great, the place really feels homey like a big backyard BBQ with your buddies. The guys were very helpful letting us know which sauces might compliment our selections and the servers were quick to get the drinks to wash everything down. Bring friends, the servings are giant!
The food was excellent..best brisket I've ever eaten...service was friendly...the atmosphere casual and fun. We will be repeat customers for sure!!
Love Big Sky BBQ........great food, great vibe......this place transports you to your favourite Texas BBQ joint. Saturday night live music was rockin the Corral (outdoor patio)....BIG shout out to the owners, managers and staff.....kickass place.......keep it up!!!!!
It’s funny I actually thought this was a place to buy Bbq gear, then I checked out the web page and just had to stop in on my way back to Cranbrook.
All I can say is that I was thoroughly impressed right from the time I pulled into the parking lot...fresh smoke and good ‘ol Alberta farm air had me just chompin at the bit to get in and order.
I loved the atmosphere right away. I ordered the Hungry Man as of course my “eyes were bigger than my belly” lol I doubled up on the brisket which was perfect in every way, just enough moisture and tension as I pulled it apart and ever so beefy. The pulled pork paired with their Granny’s Apple Q sauce was unreal good.
Don’t ask me how but I managed to scarf down almost all of my serving of baked beans as these were the best beans I’ve had....EVER .
I will also say the service was outstanding and I could sure tell these folks were passionate about their craft. I will definitely return and highly recommend #bigskybbq
I love this place, reminded me of BBQ in the south. Only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the lack of servers, I think it's due to the # of applicants in in a small town but on the up side the owner and management are amazing. Damn shame about the servers, but imo you must eat here!
Upped to 5! They are so close to perfection the difference matters not. Servers are excellent along with everything else.
Awsome Food. Better than Awesome service. Great building inside and out. Exactly what you are there for. Got invited back for Wednesday’s Broken Biker night. Can’t make Wednesday, but we will definitely be back. Thanks to everybody who’s connected with Big Sky. Well done.
Authentic Texan BBQ. Having relatives in Texas, we have experience with Texan BBQ. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is casual and fun. The portions are very generous. There were 6 of us and we ordered the platter for 4 - 6 ppl and we still had food left over. The staff were very friendly. It was a great evening!
Absolutely amazing place! Second time here and it was even better than the first. Love that they use plastic cutlery and paper to serve the food, what a great way to cut costs... brilliant! Also the staff is fantastic. Make sure you have the sausage, it's to die for.
we were there last night ... atmosphere was awesome ... our server, Brent or Brett ... LOL ... he was fantastic ... the food tasted great ... prices are good ... so, we will definitely return ... thanks ...
Went for the first time today and it was amazing. Will definitely be back. The BBQ is amazing ., the atmosphere is awesome. If you want a authentic BBQ experience it is worth the drive
Love this place! The burnt ends are amazing! We will definitely be back, probably with a bigger crowd so we can try the platters!
The food was good. The staff was fast and friendly. My biggest issue is that this is supposed to be a family friendly environment. Yet their is no place for a man to change a baby or toddles diaper unless you go out to your vehicle. This is not right. All it takes is a pull down change table hanging from the wall. Very dissatisfied with this
Staff is incredibly friendly . Ribs were ok but not to die for . Waited too long for drinks .
Had friends that said food was really great. We were not impressed with the food or the service. Food took over an hour before they called our name. My wife had the beef ribs found them tough fatty and not hot but was so hungry she ate what she could. I had the pork ribs I found them delicious but some were fatty and seemed not cooked they were not hot again too hungry did not want to wait another hour. So are this visit I am putting down to Father's Day and was just about a full house.
May try it one more time to see if quality and service are any better.
We had the brisket, ribs, Mac n cheese, slaw, scallop potatoes and corn bread. I would NOT recommend this food! The environment was great the food subpar. Noodles were not cheesy, the were very dry, potatoes looked and tasted like they came out of a box. Brisket was ok ribs really dry way over smoked. I’m sure it would be a great place to grab a pitcher of beer if your willing to sell your first born
Concept was there but they failed. Waitress was slooooow, food was greasy, cold, fat, slaw was bland, Mac and cheese was dry and def not fresh cornbread was dry, bread on chicken sandwich was very fresh and good. Owner or manager, not sure whom, did come to speak with us and try to find a way to repair the situation but no thanks!!!! Not sure how you’re going to fix Sysco reheated food. Never again
When I go out for a meal that is not inexpensive, and not at a fast food establishment, I like to at least get a real plate and real cutlery. Questioning how sanitary it is to eat a pile of meat directly off a cafeteria tray lined with butcher's paper, and it's definitely unpleasant to eat meat with those (cheapest) mini knives and forks that come 500 to a bag at the dollar store.
The service was adequate, which it should be, considering you have to go pick up your food at the counter (did I mention "not fast food?") I could have overlooked these things, had the barbecue meat been exceptional, but it wasn't. It was...okay. Not particularly smoky or barbecue-y, actually. The sides were equally unimpressive, the beans seeming as if they just came out of an industrial size can having gone nowhere near a smoker. Basically, we ate with our hands off a tray in the middle of a high picnic table, and my husband likened it to eating in a barn, out of a trough. I have no objection to eating in a barn, but I do object to feeling vaguely swine-like as I did so.
The decor is uninspired redneck, with a few actually objectionable elements, like Confederate flags and the bathroom signs that identify the men's room with a figure with a beer bottle penis, and the women's room with a strategically placed martini glass. Glad I didn't have to explain those signs to the kids. Also glad that we hadn't brought grandma, who might not have enjoyed the staff t shirts with sayings such as "rub my meat." I don't mean to be particularly prudish, but those things will not bring IN any business, but they may discourage it. Are they really necessary?
All in all, we were disappointed, having heard so much build up about the place. My advice? Skip it.
We thought we would try this bbq place. We ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, the meat was cold and there was more fat than meat. We ordered a coke which came in a 330 ml bottle for $3.75. As we were paying for the bill I said to the guy that maybe they should look into fountain pop, so that u could get a refill. And he told me that they do give refills. Well it would have been nice to know that before. Maybe you guys should go check out Big T's BBQ in Calgary to see how it should be done. Sorry but we wont be back.
