Black Shale's guides have grown up fishing the area, and have spent our lives dedicated to these waters. The opportunities are endless- with miles upon miles of rivers, creeks and lakes that can produce some of the best terrain that fly fishing has to offer. Some of our Alpine lakes hold host to beautiful Golden Trout and Cutthroat, while our lower lakes contain Browns, Bulls, Brookies, Lake Trout and Pike. Our river systems are some of the best in the country, with a wide range of freestone rivers and prairie creeks. Upper sections of the freestone rivers produce amazing pocket water fishing for West Slope Cutthroat and Bull Trout, while the prairie creeks and lower sections of these rivers contain Browns, Brookies and Bulls. We have many levels of fishing difficulty within our river systems for you to choose from.
