Often overlooked in the renovation world are rental complex’s. However, these are home for many people and are becoming and increasingly viable option in cities, preventing urban sprawl and providing affordable and smaller living.
Laebon Rentals wanted to improve their coffee station in two locations in Red Deer. These complex’s were built at a time before Laebon started including coffee stations in their development plans. In the spirit of keeping these units fresh and invi...ting for future tenants, Laebon Rental wants to keep them updated and modern.
The apartment manager wanted something that would work in both buildings, even though the buildings each had two different colour schemes. The first had vibrant red furniture and the second had neutral taupe colourings.
Our cabinet specialist Terri and project manager Derek were able to help the apartment manager pick out cabinets, handles, and counter top, custom suited to the needs of the apartment manager that worked in both complex’s.
The manager wanted the option to lock the cabinets and desired to have enough space on the counter top in order to leave out the overwhelming amount of baked goods her tenants lovingly left her each week to share with the rest of the community.
Blackwood Interiors was able to complete this job in a timely manner and the apartment manager was thrilled with the results.

On behalf of everyone at Blackwood Interiors, we want to personally thank Shawn at Eco Tree Trimmed-Line Tree Services Central Alberta's Urban Logger and the talented children from Sawing For Schools for the beautiful work they did on the Humboldt Bronco’s table we won at the Battle of Alberta golf tournament fundraiser auction last week.
Sawing with Schools is a free after school program for middle school students in Red Deer. Shawn started it in 2017 to help get children i...nterested in the trades and construction. 80% of these students are girls and empowers them to get involved in an area traditionally reserved for males.
We feel sincerely touched by the hard work these students put into the creation of this table and want to send a message of encouragement to keep learning and honing their craft, as the talent is surely there! To be able to support so many great causes, the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, Sawing for Schools, and last but not least, the families of the Humboldt Broncos Jr 'A' Hockey Club, is such an honour for us.
