I am the main breadwinner of a family of six, and work full time while also being an active unionist and Human Rights advocate. I knit and crochet for the love of creating items that people will value not only for the labour put into them, but for the feeling of receiving something handmade, a gift from the heart and the hand.

I am also an activist feminist radical who believes in the empowerment of women. The history of women has been erased and undervalued.

The very crafts I make are a small symbol of the history we have, for these items I work with, may have been improved upon, but have not changed for thousands of generations. The implements I use continue to produce the same motions, products and patterns that our predecessor's had. But they were also some of the very first reflections of human innovation, creativity and art.

That the very tools and materials I use are a legacy of the contributions of women throughout history. For who, but women were the first to pick up bone or wood, to weave and mesh and spin wool, and produce the very building blocks of protection against the elements for our families. What once was a labour of life becomes a labour of love and a legacy passed from one to the other. Who but the women worked through many a later hours to weave and knit and crochet; how proud I am to do women's work, and teach my four boys the value of the work women do.
