This beautiful mini bouquet is going to a friend today who helped me get started in this crazy little adventure of locally grown flowers. I wanted my clients to have the highest quality and the only way to do that with some flowers is to grow them yourself. Anemones do not travel well at all and dahlias tend to shatter after being in refrigeration too long. Now for a select group of weddings I can just pick them the day before the big day so they look glorious. #grownnotflown #farmerflorist #farmHer #yegflowers

Delivered beautiful white, pink and green bouquets today. They even included a couple of blooms from my own flower farm. Thankful the rain has stayed away for them today

These are pretty sweet, and the fact that dahlias are number one on the list makes me happy as I just planted a whole bunch of tubers from a fellow flower farmer.And if my baby seedlings keep growing I will have a bunch of heirloom flowers this summer. This is my first year with focused attention on my micro flower farm. I have been working the past few years on building something I have always dreamed of – a local cut flower farm. BarOA Farms is becoming a reality, with several bulbs in the ground, and seeds in trays ready for spring planting. Why am I doing this yo...u might ask – well after working in the floral industry for several years I have thought that there must be a better way –a way to get super fresh flowers, a way to reduce the volume of plastic sleeves & tubes, synthetic sponges, rubber bands, cardboard and paper garbage, a way to reduce the use of fossil fuels from transport, a way to create a living doing what I love.
