If I could give them zero stars I would. In my 20+ years of renting vehicles across Canada this by far was and has been my worst experience. I was referred to this place by a local auto shop while my car was being serviced. Unfortunately for me and to a larger extent them, I was left convinced that this establishment loves to cater to a specific demographic of patrons particularly old white men or women. Seeing that I did not fit that profile my experience was to say the least, disappointing. Upon entering this location I advised them that I did not have my physical credit card with me, but do have Apple Pay and if that would be acceptable. I was told “No” so I went home grabbed my physical card (thanks to my friends at the auto shop). Upon returning all seemed to be going well until it was time to swipe my credit card. After about two swipes and a dumb look on the clerk’s face I was told my card isn’t working. I suggested to him that perhaps he could try a plastic bag as I have seen other stores (particularly those with older electronic payment devices) resolve the matter using such a method. Again with a dumb grin and little enthusiasm he swipes the card with no luck and tells me there’s nothing he can do. His manager, who didn’t bother to get up from her seat showed no indication that there was a resolution to a situation like this. And told me that the only thing I can do was go to my bank and get a new credit card (like they give them away in candy jars) I go to my bank and was told they can fast track an order for a credit card (which would still take 5 days to reach me) and even called Budget to verify this is my card and to punch in the card number into their system (which apparently they could not do). I call the Budget call centre and explain to them the matter the gentleman on the line tells me I can make a reservation with him and that should resolve the matter, when I ask them the manager at this location, if this could be done they reply that it could not because they would still need to swipe my physical card. The man in the call centre (as perplexed as I was) tells me it must be a policy for that location and his hands are tied but as a gesture of good faith explains to me due to my inconvenience he would be willing to offer a rebate on the rental should I succeed. After standing in front of these silly so-called “professionals” for a few minutes longer hoping they could make some kind of concession I was told there’s not much they could do. I suggested (again) if they could make an executive decision regarding the matter (because surely I couldn’t be the first person ever to come into this Budget with an old credit card I barely use since we live in an age of advance electronic payment services such as PayPal, Android Pay, or Apple Pay). Again I was denied and told that it’s a “store policy” that they must “swipe” my credit card. My response to them was “wouldn’t it be prudent to update your systems so that a situation like this would ensure you never lose business?” Their response yet another dumb look. After a good laugh, I called Enterprise down the road who after explaining my circumstance gladly accepted my business and I received exceptional service to boot. Oh and they use tablets there!

Sorry Budget but you missed out on what could’ve been a loyal patron all because you are still choosing to use some archaic computer system to justify your weak attempt to profile customers in 2017. Good luck with that.

BEWARE! Rented a car for 1 day and had a bad feeling about it as we walked around the car. There was a huge dent on the side, scrapes all over the trunk and hood and the inside cushions and cup holders were dirty. AND of course when i dropped the car off, they have the nerve to say I scraped the bottom of the front bumper. Weird..Always go with gut feeling people. That car should not be rented to anyone. I wonder how much money they claimed off all the other damages and haven't fixed anything🤔

I want to commend Priscilla for her really good customer service skills. She went out of her way several times to ensure my rental was exactly what I needed and wanted. In addition to this she has a very bright and engaging smile!!

Midnapore Budget is a great place to rent a vehicle. Priscilla found me the car I wanted and it filled my needs completely. You have very friendly and helpful staff at this location. I have rented from this location 2 or 3 times before and have always been satisfied. Keep up the good service!
