Bulk Barn

It's hit or miss on the prices. It's under the same umbrella as Superstore but have more expensive prices at times for items. I like that you can bring in your glass containers and they will weigh them and you fill them. Staff are usually friendly and helpful.

I really want to like this location, but repeated bad experiences make it difficult... I love the re-useable container program and this location has such a great selection, but the cons are starting to outweigh the benefits.

A few weeks ago I went in and filled around 20 re-useable containers. When I went to check out I pointed out to the cashier that maybe she wasn't weighing the net weight but the gross weight. She told me I was wrong and when I asked why the receipt didn't show net and gross she said the receipts don't show that anymore. I had to go back in twice, and ask her to check again. Finally I told her there was no way that a jar of cheerios should cost $11 and another cashier corrected the mistake.

Today I went in and the cashier checked and weighed my jars. She opened one and it was clean, but she smelled it and said it smelled like it had "been around the block". Now, I'll be the first to admit if something isn't clean, and there are many things in my life (with two kids and a dog) that could be cleaner, but this jar was truly clean. The same cashier then watched me and my kids like we were criminals while we filled our jars. At the checkout, I brought my jars to be weighed and instead of attending to me, she proceeded to watch my kids, who were just at the entrance of an isle. I asked her if there was a problem and she said she was "curious" as to what they were doing.

It's worth noting I have had shopping trips to this location before that were incident free, but now with two bad experiences I think I'll go to the other location on Macleod.

Bad bad shortening ... full of granules . The girls at the counter were trying to find faults , maybe it cold or what not . They were trying to tell a professional baker that they know better . Didn't return their awful bad batch of shortening , bad service .

Good selection of stuff, always well stocked and friendly service.

An excellent selection of items to choose from. Great if you only need a small amount of something for a recipe or packaging for goods or even done good for your animal friends.

Going to be coming here more often for dry goods and other baking supplies, maybe a little candy to! :) The selection here is typical to other Bulk Barn locations but the staff are better than the usual.
