THE NIGHTINGALE by Jennifer Kent (THE BABADOOK) won two awards at Venice today including a Special Jury Prize. Films in competition directed by a woman had a 200% success rate in winning awards! CUFF alum Rick Alverson’s (THE COMEDY, ENTERTAINMENT) THE MOUNTAIN received the worst critical response of the festival. We will probably love it.

We've found a new home! Y'all have visited us at Globe Cinema for our April Festival, CUFF.Docs and other year-round events, so it only makes sense that we moved our offices to Calgary's # 1 indie cinema. On Sunday at midnight, the Calgary Underground Film Festival, Calgary Queer Arts Society, and Hole in the Wall Studios presented a SOLD OUT screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show! Featuring performances the very talented Fake Mustache, Phil, and Clint Torres, it was an evening filled with antici.... .... .... .... pation!

We have double passes to an advance screening of A SIMPLE FAVOR - directed by FREAKS AND GEEKS creator Paul Feig and starring Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively and Henry Golding. The Calgary Underground Film Festival is back with an all-night Horror Movie Marathon the Saturday before Halloween! Join us at Globe Cinema on October 27 for 12 hours of movies, contests and surprises – 7 movies from 7 pm until 7 am the next morning. You can come for one, come for them all, or drop in and out. But one thing is for sure – you that you'll laugh, scream, and enjoy spending Halloween with fellow CUFF fans. Our programmers are currently finalizing the final sl...ate of movies, the full lineup will be released soon.
