The NEB regulates pipelines, power lines, energy development and trade in the Canadian public interest. Canada’s energy landscape is constantly evolving, defined by the ever growing interest from the public in this country’s energy system. As Canada’s federal energy regulator, the NEB knows it has a vital role to play in this system – protecting what matters most: lands, water, environment, jobs, communities, safety, and well-being.

Regulating with excellence or “regulatory excellence” drives what the NEB does and how it does it. From the day to day activities to new initiatives, the NEB consistently strives to set the bar a little bit higher - because Canadians deserve a credible regulator they can rely on. One that provides assurance it will always take the steps necessary to protect them and the environment; one that provides neutral fact based energy information; one that provides multiple platforms for meaningful engagement.
