Canadian Association For Suicide Prevention

About Canadian Association For Suicide Prevention

The Canadian Association of Suicide Prevention (CASP) was incorporated in 1985 by a group of individuals dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by suicide. With passion, hard work and many thousands of hours of time volunteered a national organization was created. CASP's ultimate purpose is to reduce the suicide rate and minimize the harmful consequences of suicidal behaviour. Sharing hope and resiliency is our vision. We are driven by our mission of promoting collaboration and shared responsibility to prevent suicide and support those whose lives have been impacted. CASP is committed to uniting all communities, governments, organizations, stakeholders and resources across Canada to work effectively together to prevent death by suicide and to assist, educate and comfort those who have been impacted by suicidal behaviours. CASP has and continues to create, independently or in collaboration with other organizations, a suite of evidence-informed suicide prevention, intervention & postvention resources, guides and training tools using a variety of media — print, electronic, web based, etc. — available free of charge for public use.
