On wedding days I really try to make sure that the mother of the groom feels loved and special because as a mother to a baby boy, I get emotional even thinking about the day he marries the love of his life. We often talk about how fathers of the bride must give away their baby girl but what about the mother of the groom; giving away her sweet baby boy. On Danny’s wedding day his mom held him tightly and shared the sweetest embrace that had me tearing up behind the camera. This is love 💙

Yesterday I had so much fun with James + Molly who came all the way from Milwaukee to visit the beautiful Canadian Rockies! We roamed around Canmore and enjoyed a lot of laughs, forest dancing and glorious mountain view’s! At the end of the session they gave me a beautiful hand written card with lots of sweet words that hit me in all the feels. During this time when wedding season is winding down but editing is piling up and energy might be at a low; feeling the appreciation and love from clients helps to fuel me and keep me inspired. Grateful for good people who keep me sane and support me! ✨ p.s thank you Kayla Sommer from joining me yesterday, you made the day even better with your positivity and good car chats ❤️

Packing up my gear and heading to the mountains today for an adventure shoot with a wonderful couple from the US! This will probably be my last trip out to the mountains for the season so I can’t wait to soak in the beauty!

How I feel to have sent off a wedding gallery!!! I wish I could be as nimble as Danny (see man frog jumping in the air 🤣)

Maranda + Danny said I do in the mountains of Yosemite National park and I feel so incredibly lucky to have been the one to document their beautiful wedding reception back home in Edson amongst their family and friends!
The reception was held at danny's parents property and it was so fun to see all the amazing old cars that they had and to just CHILL! Literally the whole day was stress free, relaxed, heck these two even got ready together! Even when it started to rain, there... was nothing but smiles and sunshine amongst the group!
You can truly see the love they share for one another, and hear it because danny will sing her love songs all day long; it's really special! I am so lucky that I was their photographer but now even more lucky to say I am their friend!

Props to all my co-sleeping mamas and papas out there. Leo was really upset last night with a nasty cold and fever so I had him in bed with us hoping to ease his pains and cuddle him to sleep peacefully. Umm hard no. I’ve never been kicked in the face and poked in the ribs by a thrashing 27lbs human so much. Needless to say we both got no sleep last night 🤣 Today is going to be a lazy Friday for us that’s for sure!

This morning I got the call that one of my mamas was ready to bring her babe into the world. Take that snowy day!! Every time I am blessed to attend a birth I’m so amazed at the power of the female body. She was a powerhouse who birthed her baby like a boss! With her amazing supportive husband by her side coaching her every step of the way; a beautiful little girl joined us earth side. I’m so freakin’ lucky that my job allows me into theses precious and raw moments, it truly is amazing. Congratulations to Laura + Ryan on the birth of a healthy and oh so cute baby girl, little miss Monroe. Welcome to the wild child 💕

This beautiful couple loved their engagement photos so much that within the day printed a bunch off and sent me a message showing me their newly decorated walls! I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again! Brides, when getting ready good light and a relaxing space helps to capture those last few moments before you head out to see your groom and get married! If you’re wanting to get ready alone, do it! If you want all your bridesmaids in the room do that! Whatever you do on your wedding day make sure you...... do you boo boo!

When it comes to your wedding day, be yourself and do what you want to do. If you aren't into the traditional wedding stuff; skip it!

Wow - where do I start? Carissa is exceptional, both as a photographer and just as a genuine and kind person! She made us feel completely at ease during our family/engagement photo session. As a wonderful mother herself she was also able to make my 7 month old giggle and laugh for the camera, even when he was fussy! She gives excellent direction while at the same time makes you feel comfortable enough to just be yourself and have fun in front of the camera. You can really see her passion for photography come through while she's composing the shot as they make beautiful pictures that look so natural. When you look through Carissa's photos, it's clear to see that her works speaks for itself - she is a phenomenally talented photographer and her passion for what she does shines through in every session she shoots. What sets Carissa apart from other photographers is her infectious and easygoing personality and her silly sense of humour - she has a knack for keeping the mood light and fun and having her clients step a bit outside of their comfort zone, which results in amazing, candid photos (which are the best kind!). My hubby and I have had the pleasure of having Carissa do three photo sessions for us now - gender reveal photos, maternity photos and most recently, newborn/family photos, and each time she has made us feel incredibly comfortable in front of the camera and in turn the photos have turned out beautifully. Had such a blast. It was non stop laughter and she made it super easy to be comfortable in front of the camera.

From the moment we met Carissa I knew she was going to create something beautiful for us.We had her do our wedding video, and watching it truly gives us goosebumps because she truly captured the emotions of the whole day. Carissa was such a huge part of my wedding day, she has so much talent and passion for what she loves to do. Carissa recently did some family photos for us. It was a little chilly and with a 6 month old we couldn't be outside for long. Somehow she was able to get us a good amount of great photos with such a small window of shooting time. She was great with my baby and managed to make my husband smile in the pictures.
