Happy church dedication anniversary to Queen of Martyrs Vietnamese Parish!
Do you celebrate Mass in one of these languages? Are you from a part of the world where we don't celebrate Mass in your mother-tongue?
After 68 years of serving Catholics in central Edmonton and beyond, St. Patrick Parish will officially close and merge with St. Alphonsus Parish, its neighbor to the east. The last Mass at St. Patrick will be celebrated on Sunday, September 30, at which time their beloved pastor, Father Frank Stempfle, will retire from active ministry.
Archbishop Richard Smith made the announcement to the faithful at both parishes on August 12, following consultations with the priests and pas...toral councils at both parishes and the archdiocesan Presbyteral Council. The eventual closure of St. Patrick’s had been recommended in the 1998 Transformation of Parishes plan, commissioned by Archbishop Joseph MacNeil.
St. Patrick Church, located at 11811 - 96 Street, was blessed and dedicated by Archbishop J.H. MacDonald on June 1, 1950. The parish has had only three pastors in its history, including Father Frank for two terms, 1970-77 and 1986 to present.

On Tuesday, several members of the archdiocesan staff had the pleasure of joining Archbishop Smith and a group of our Muslim sisters and brothers at a 'Meet & Greet' on historic Mission Hill in St. Albert.
The event, organized by Julien Hammond of CAEDM UNITY, was a followup to our visit to the Al Rashid Mosque a year ago.
In addition to getting a tour of the grounds led by ace historian Ray Pinco, we had a chance to share ideas about how our faith communities might build o...n our common values to cooperate and collaborate in new ways. A truly beautiful evening. We look forward to great things. The Edmonton Council of Muslim Communities

Let's pray the Holy Rosary! Each person posts one line following the previous line, and cannot post consecutively (we'll skip the mysteries). Do we have enough people to complete it? We'll begin:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen...
The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in St. Albert, a grotto located behind St. Albert Church, has been designated by Archbishop Richard Smith as an official Archdiocesan Marian shrine.
From the 80th Annual Mary's Grotto Pilgrimage in St. Albert yesterday.
Story will be up on Grandin Media.
