On September 20th, I was looking for directions when I came to the Central Library. There was a woman by the name of Sanjila Bhan working there. She showed me the directions to where I was going, explained it, and gave me a copy of the directions on Google Maps. To top it of, multiple people, say about 4, were asking her questions as well. She was still professional and helped every one of us with the care and attention we needed. Sanjila Bhan was very helpful and it makes me want to come back to the library again. Central Library please treat Sanjila Bhan well!

Thank you Sanjila Bhan!

I really love calgary's public libraries. This one is in the downtown so easy to access. Now waiting for the new library, which is under construction right now. Facade looks beautiful, I am sure it's gonna be great as well.

this location is good for quite study if you can find a place to sit. 3rd and 4th floor most of tables and chairs are occupied all day long with homeless, which by the way they are watching movies from Laptop or some kind personal device. this location has some extra rules as well, maybe due to the homeless issue that city of calgary ignoring. city hall is just next big building 5 minetes away. don't close your eyes or have a drink or food in your hand otherwise you'll be harassed by several staffers. if you leave your sit to go eat something good luck finding a sit or table, when you come back. so the other this person is eating chips but the bag is inside of another bag, but continues making noise and this other man obviously tired and showing his tiredness loudly. really funny situations. overall city needs to find some solution to help the homeless and provide a better service for all the citizens.
kids program are good, one whole floor for kids.
equipment, books and materials are good and useful.
Mr. Mayer stop by 3rd and 4th floor too.

love it, services and programs excellent, got me a library card even though I in city temporary... not once I had reason to complain of service or interaction...

Great library. Amazing cool events like music and dance. Free education opportunities. But, it is a tough area. Three big downtown shelters within 8 or 10 blocks. That's OK. That's whats it for!

User

Great organization, but they treat volunteers poorly.

User

Friendly staff very easy to get your library card the only thing is to have more copies of some books I can't find one that I want it always borrow.

User

Friendly staff and superb service. Looking to see the new location once finished.
Kudos.

The City of Calgary has to do something about the homeless problem. They cannot just sweep it under the rug. As a result, hundreds of homeless Calgarians come to the Downtown Library to loiter, sleep, and just to keep warm. Would it be so expensive to build more affordable housing to help them get back on their feet? It's disheartening, and somewhat annoying when there are 20 benches and 20 desks being used by people less fortunate, if you want to read or check out a book that the Public Library has. It would be beneficial and ocst effective to the city to provide these people with low income housing, and mental health support.
