Chop Steakhouse & Bar

My experience at chop was very enjoyable, first off let me say that your servers and staff are incredibly kind and professional they treated me and my friend wonderfully, the bar staff on the second floor in particular were very good and i couldn't have asked for better servers also the drinks were great your ceasars are delicious and my friend had a mojito and that was also great, now the reason for the 3 stars is because chop lacked in one department and that was the food, i ordered a teriyaki top sirloin and was quite disappointed i don't mean to sound greedy but it was miniature so tiny that it was good for about 3 bites then it was done, along with the steaks was a large stack of what looked like deep fried onions and half of a tomato with some sort of topping on it, don't get me wrong the steak was good but i was shocked at how small it was and was even more disappointed when i finished it in about a minute i was also confused with the sides seeing as how i fail to understand the whole point behind the tomato with the topping on it (im guessing it was green onions because thats what it looked like) the grilled onions were obviously suppose to be eaten with the steak but thats kind of difficult seeing as how there was a lack of steak to begin with, again i had a good time at chop it was just the meal that was disappointing but good job with the drinks and service guys keep it up 👍

Steak was good. They forgot my fries and then I got them 10 minutes after my steak was finished after we asked twice. Not the worst experience but not going back.

I have been to Chop Steakhouse many times and have always had an excellent meal - until this time.

I had the Blackened Haddock sandwich and it was overcooked and bland (most blackened food has a little 'heat' to it). Didn't think much about it at the time as I was having a business meeting and had more important things to focus on. Service and ambience excellent as always..

I'll go back to Chop as I quite like it there, but I won't order fish there again..

It was my wife's 30th birthday last Saturday and after having a bad experience at Cactus Club where we got turned away we decided to try Chop. It was our first time being to this restaurant and I must say I was very impressed! They were very inviting and accommodating. We got a table right away. The food and drinks were exceptional! In the end we were happy we got turned away from Cactus Club as we had a much better experience at Chop. Also props for the décor, very chic!

Such a great patio and always accommodating to my vegetarian requests... I know what you're thinking, vegetarian at a steakhouse??? Get the Ravioli! Indulge in the tempura heck - add steakhouse cheese toast to the order - I'll cheers over sparkling bellinis or Italian lemonade any day - YUM!

This was hands down the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in all my years of going to Calgary restaurants. I have never seen such awful and downright disgusting behaviour from a restaurant manager before. I really wish there was a zero star option because even one star is too much for this terrible place. I had to post this review here because service like this should never be tolerated by anyone.

One of the people at our table was served water. Halfway through her drink (once the ice had melted) she realized that there was a dead fly at the bottom of her glass. When we mentioned it to our server, she just took the glass and left, no apologies offered. We thought that maybe she had not seen the fly in the water but the next thing we see is her looking at the bottom of the glass with one of her colleagues at the bar. Again, she didn't come up to our table and apologize. She simply pretended that nothing had happened. When she came with the bill at the end of our meal and we asked her if she had seen the fly, she acted like this was not a big deal at all. When we asked to see the manager, that's when things went from bad to simply appalling.

The manager came up to our table and asked what the issue was. When we mentioned that there was a fly in one of our drinks, instead of saying sorry her response was that 'oh we cannot really control the flies here.' When we pointed out that the fly was at the bottom of the glass which would imply that it might have been there when the drink was served, her response was 'are you trying to imply that my server deliberately gave you a drink like that.' At this point, to say that I was quite speechless at the manager's behaviour, would have been an understatement.

Instead of apologizing or trying to make things better, the manager was argumentative with us and just had a terrible attitude and was extremely condescending. To make things downright disgusting and I kid you not, she actually insinuated that we were trying to get them to comp our meal using the fly issue. Apparently it is totally okay for them to serve us drinks with flies in them but if you point it out to them, the customer is trying to get a free meal.

The one and only thing the staff had to do was simply APOLOGIZE. That's all we needed. Not one sorry was uttered. Instead we were argued with and basically accused of trying to get away with not paying for a meal! I have never ever seen such atrocious behaviour in a Calgary restaurant before. I would honestly advise the restaurant management to make certain that your staff (especially your managers) at least learn basic manners and then maybe go to a reputable restaurant and learn what true customer service actually is.

What makes me sad is that the food was actually quite good but after this truly revolting experience, we will never set foot here again. And I will make sure that everyone I know hears about this so they won't make the mistake of going here either.

Really great service. Went above and beyond to help with my girlfriend's allergies. The steak and seafood were both great

Went here for our valentine's dinner. I love the atmosphere and the food was great. There was just a mistake on how our steaks was cooked. But when we brought it to our servers attention, the management made a real effort to make sure we'll still have a great experience and we did.
